More likely it's only an excuse, albeit a weak one, to get out of a business trip.


That's what I was saying. Since the emissions will be the same wether they send you or Bob from accounting on the trip, it's not really protecting the environment; you'd just be dumping your responsibilities on someone else.

Most places legally must make expectations clear when offering you a job.

The first day of work, any requirements not covered in the interview are usually spelled out. Seems to me that food prohibitions, mandatory religious observances, prayers said at specific times of the day, etc., should be discussed BEFORE taking the job.

That opens the door to abuse.

Employers in many jurisdictions are legally prohibited from asking about a job applicant's age, marital status, sexuality, medical history, religious belief and similar issues unless they have a bona fide link to workplace requirements. If a potential employee is required to disclose matters relating to these issues that would required workplace accommodation, it gives the employer an opportunity to refuse to hire on prohibited grounds.
