York Mosque praised for offering EDL protesters tea
I don't think the conversation got intense. But still, I'll get to your page. You posted two comments -

I think even you would admit that's inevitable. A majority muslim population will invariably impose religious law followed by restrictions relating to dress, drinking alcohol etc on the rest of the population. A completely muslim country is described as dares-salam (abode of peace) where a non-believer (non-muslim) would not be permitted to live or even enter (such as in Saudi Arabia).

Do you really think there is a customised version of islam that is applied to western countries? we have areas of Australia (like in the UK) where majority are muslim such as the suburbs of Lakemba in Sydney. Such places Australian women are unable to walk without wearing muslim outfits (even in daytime). Entire areas being purchased for muslim only housing in Queensland, Western Australia and New South Wales. These things do concern the rest of us. Cups of tea are very nice but they don't change the plan in the Quran for world domination.
Some primary questions -
The country of your concern - is it Australia?
The imposing of sharia law on non-muslims - examples?
Muslim outfits - does that include anything other than hijab?
World domination - can you to elaborate?
I hope you can leave ruveyn's points out of Our discussion the way you left out the tea

You mean not just personal laws for Muslims, but penal laws for the entire population?

one of the fundamental concepts of Islam is the struggle between the dar al Harb (that is us) and the dar as Salaam (the domain of Submission). The goal of Islam is to make everyone either Submit, or be a dhimi and pay protection money to be left alone and even then under severe restrictions. In the dar as Salaam non-believers live at the sufferance of their Islamic masters.

Hey ruveyn, you're back. Cyberdad said you won't be back because the conversation was too intense. Anyways, what do you think about http://www.wrongplanet.net/postp5429637.html#5429637 ?

What is being pointed out far more by genuinely liberal ex-Muslims is that this group aren't some kind of freedom-loving liberal mosque. They are the purveyors of hatred, intolerance and violence, and are not any kind of victims. They're heaiily associated with Islamist fascists both in Britain (think the East London Mosque) and back in Bangladesh.
Wow, do you have a link? I'd like to forward it to the BBC.
A link? Sure.
I know you're being facetious, but I'll humour you.
The blog is run by a courageous ex-Muslim (and Iranian communist, so not someone I'd have much time for in most other political spheres) Maryam Namazie. Gita Saghal runs the Committee for Secular Space, who are a relatively new, tiny and severely underfunded secularist group in the Muslim community.

That's about another mosque application that was railroaded through in Leeds and run by the same front group - the UK Islamic Mission.
The BBC hardly ever feature ex-Muslims on their shows to give a different perspective (if you see some of the religious debate shows on the Beeb you understand why - the shows are dominated by hysterical, aggressive, screaming Islamists whenever Islam is being mentioned, and the atmosphere looks so hostile that I can imagine many freethinking people from the Muslim community simply decide it isn't worth the candle if everyone else is going to scream them down). All we get to see are the 'community leaders', the hardliners and the dissemblers, and perhaps the a***holes from the EDL from time to time.

Facetious is the only way anyone could possibly be on PPR - it's a facetiousness magnet
I love the idea of the EDL taking tea and biscuits with these Muslims and then having a football match with them
- it's what good community relations is all about

Sorry, my mistake
Similar principle though - armchair warriors try and outdo each other with their superior knowledge and opinion of world events
If people are feeling really brave they should try posting a non-liberal opinion under a Guardian article lol

Wow. If this is the behaviour shown by groups linked with hardliners, I don't think there's any need for worry. Or maybe the christian and muslim conservatives decided that joining forces is the only way of tackling the liberals.

I'm told that it didn't happen - that it was mainly the far-left sympathisers of the mosque that went to the tea party.
It was a clever ploy, but that's all it was. There's still a lot of tension over this in York (particularly the anti-democratic nature of the council\s decision and ignoring the public), especially given the fact that many of the campaigners against the expansion claimed (among other things) that York Mosque was big enough already.

Have you ever heard of the expression of putting on a friendly face for the public to see and then showing a completely different face in private/amongst your own?
That's what these groups do. They are a master of the art.
The East London Mosque, for example, says that they're against homophobia to the public... yet the week after invite a roster of hate preachers to speak at the venue who call for gay people to be murdered, that say that non-Muslims are inferior to Muslims, that Islam will dominate Britain, that there will be an Islamic caliphate in Europe, etc etc (to sell-out crowds).

It's these kind of statements that take away the credibility of your posts.

Isn't that kind of an extreme claim? Specially when it's hearsay.

Not to me.
I'm not good at politics but I know on the basis of my everyday's life that Tequila speaks the truth about that.
I've seen what has been done here, in France for 30 or 40 years and I have no more admiration nor respect nor anything to that religion.
(The admiration was for the ramadan : at the time, it was truly respected by those who were true believers. Nowadays, it's just another way of gaining more money than usual and still, so many beggers in the streets where there's a majority of them. So it's really a problem they don't want to solve. Who can believe them anymore when they speak of solidarity, respect and so on? It's just plain nonsense when you (anyone) live among them.)

He's talking about hardliners or groups linked with hardliners, not about muslims in general.

I'm neither christian nor muslim, but I've grown up with both. None of them spoke of solidarity or respect to me, they lived it.
