What it REALLY was was spin control by the early, and still underground, church that faced the dilemma of how to spread the word to the World when when a huge chunk of the World was ruled by the very empire that murdered the savior ( like trying to diefy someone in Stalinist Russia who was ordered murdered by Stalin while Stalin still reigned (kinda an uphill battle to say the least).

The solution to the dilemma was to concoct that preposterous story that the occupiers were victims bullied and pushed around by the very people they occupied ( poor roman babies- their jewish slaves just would not stop bullying them). That way Rome couldnt be blamed for christ's death ( even though it was Roman soldiers who pulled the trigger so to speak).

Armed with this new marketing gimmick christians could proslytise throughout the length of the Roman Empire without slandering ( and thus fearing) Roman authority.

A thousand years later ( long after the collapse of Rome) European Christians latched upon the story to justifiy antisemitism, even though that was not the orignal intent of the fable.

So even though Romans were the ones who actually hammered the nails into the victim Rome got exculpated quite cleverly.

Is this what they teach you down the synagogue?

Until the days of Constantine, Christians were heavily persecuted to death by the Romans.

First they were persecuted, then they were tolerated, and finnally they were the establishment.

During the first two phases- they had the incentive to make life easier on themselves by tacking on the story of Pilate washing his hands. That they created the story- of the oppressor being oppressed- for that reason seems- rather obvious to me.

Apart from seeming "rather obvious to you", what evidence do you have for this?

As for your first line saying that "they" as in the Christians, were finally "the establishment" this I would also disagree with, Emperor Constantine was an Emperor when he was a pagan Sun worshiper, he didnt hand the "establishment" over to Christians, rather, he claimed to convert to Christianity and made himself the first Pope, he did such to strengthen the fragmenting Roman Empire and he instigated The First Council of Nicaea which in reality ended the original true Christians, replacing them with Catholicism with himself and his establishment successors rising to even greater heights.

Jesus called this "the Great Apostasy".

wait a minute..when Constantine appointed himself head honcho of Christemdom... are you saying that Jesus REACTED to that by calling it "the great apostacy"?

Thats like saying "William Shakespeare was heavily influenced by J.K.Rowling's Harry Potter novels when he wrote "Macbeth".

Jesus had died 300 years before Constantine did all of this. So how the heck could Jesus have commented about it?

Whether Constantine corrupted the faith in the process is another question.

Where is your 'evidence' that Jesus even existed in the first place?

And if Jesus did exist- where is your evidence that Pilate washed his hands?

The conventional story is improbable (that a conquerer people would bend like that to the will of the conquered). And its also unattested by any extrabiblical documentation. So the unattested improbable conventional story is what needs to be proven. Not my notion of that the story should be dismissed as propaganda.

Turkey is the closest thing that comes to a having continuity with the Roman Empire. The Ottoman sultans fancied themselves the new Roman rulers after they took Constantinople.

The notion that a Son of God might have the gift of Prophesy doesn't occur to you then?

I've heard that theory before - - and I think it should be regarded as a theory rather than fact based on historically recorded incidents. The truth of the matter is though, Romanized upper classes in occupied areas did in fact wield power and influence, as they helped Rome control the masses. We know from the grave of the high priest Kayufes (spelling) that he was buried with both the trappings of 1st century Judaism and Classical paganism. The truth is, the men who had handed Jesus up to the Romans were hardly innocent angels enslaved by the Romans, but collaborators who had betrayed their own people for wealth and power. Unfortunately later Christians associated these priests' actions with all Jews.

And once Christianity was established it was the turn of the Christians to be Real Bad.

Case in point: See how the Christians wrecked Alexandria, at one time one of the great Brain Cities of antiquity. The Christians fixed that real good.

With beauties like Saul, John and Constantine leading the parade over an extended period of time, it is hardly any wonder that Christianity became a vile wicked religion. Result: the Crusades and later the auto-de-fe and the Heresy prosecutions. Christianity became somewhat redeemed when it lost a lot of ground during the Enlightenment. Once the churches were politically disestablished Christianity for the most part settled down into be a relatively non- obnoxious faith.

The moral of the story: Do not let religions and their organization acquire political power. Christianity is the lest harmful when no one takes it very seriously.

I dont have the gift of mind reading.

You said "he called it apostacy". You didnt say "he predicted that sorta thing would happen, and called it apostacy".

The idea of suing Pontius Pilate amuses me.

Your argument should be with Bible translators rather than with John, as he was actually making attacks on Jewish religious leaders, rather than on all Jews. After all, John himself was born and raised a Jew.
