Calamitous Typhoon strikes Philippians
Terrible news. Latest I heard on the radio is that a lot of people from the Leyte area that was hit are trying to get out of there by airplane, while on the other hand there are people trying to travel the opposite way from Manila airport to Leyte/Samar.
Holland is donating 2,000,000 euros (2,7 million dollars), Dutch Red Cross is standing by to dispatch a contingent to the Philippines.

The Pundits will blame this storm on Global Warming. Mark my words.
You hardly can say, this or that storm wouldnt have existed, if global warming would not exist. There is always the chance for weather extremes.
But its a physical, meteorological and geological fact, that warmer sea temperature have an statistical impact on favoring the existence of such massive storms.
Water bears temperatures very good, so if you have a region with a great and deep amount of warm water, this works likes a heater to the air above, raising the air pressure of that region by heating the air and additional raising natural the air humidity by natural condensation. The hotter the water, the more heat energy and humidity it can give to the air above. This leads to an big area of humid warm air rising up higher (which is as well a physical fact, warm elements rise up above cold elements), leaving behind an area with low air pressure, causing air from other regions to fill that place and the whole s**t gets affected by the natural spin of earth (usually only above sea, because woods and mountains are braking that effect) and so starts spinning around itself, causing in the end an gigantic area with high humid air pressure above, low more dry air pressure beneath, and when it mixes because of the spinning, the storm reaction starts.
So saying: This or that storm was occured by global warming, while the other one was a normal storm, that would have happened anyway is nonsense. Saying that storms and typhoon are statistically more likely to start, in areas with high water temperatures is an meteorological and physical fact. That the water temperatures around earth have increased is as well one.
