They're culling the wolf population to save the moose population from over-predation.
Can you say con-serv-ation?

Can you say hunting permits?Have they stopped issuing them?Closed the season?
Bet humans are still allowed to take a moose, and how could there even be a shortage of moose? There were Alaskans at the retreat center I went to and I never heard about a moose shortage. To the contrary, they get in people's yards all the time.

/\ People in rural Alaska depend on moose for their meat supply. You make moose hunting illegal and you've screwed a lot of people that will take their resentment to the polls next election. I spent enough time there to know that for a fact.

I don't doubt that, close the season to out of state hunters.I still don't believe there is a moose shortage.Show me the stats that there is a decline in moose.

Here is the problem, all the moose are on the highway, why hunt when a car has done it for you and pre-tenderized the meat.

Out of state hunters = this capitalist thingy called revenue.
I don't know what effect stopping the non-resident issue of moose tags would be since a lot of hunters also go there for bear, sheep, goat, etc....
Statistics? I can probably find a statistic to support anything but that doesn't make it legit.
The wolf thing is an Alaska issue best left to be decided on by Alaskans.
