This is where his hypocrisy was at it's worst. He worked tirelessly to rid the FBI of gays, and to persecute them wherever he found them. Even though he allegedly had had a homosexual tryst with the infamous Roy Cohn (the source was admittedly questionable), another closeted, self-hating gay man who had destroyed the lives of countless others, including several gays.

I wonder if he picked on other gays to hide the fact that he was gay?

That really seems to be the common thread connecting most right wing politicians who are desperate to stay in the closet. I think it's only a matter of time till Lindsy Graham - who has a long anti-gay voting record, despite the obvious - gets outed, probably by one of his tea party rivals.

Consummate politician he is, I actually expect him to try to cash in on being outed, and declare he is a gay man, so he can get the gay vote and the sympathy vote of his constituency. That's what former Spokane mayor, homophope extraordinaire, and outed gay man, Jim West had done when the local paper had caught him soliciting gay sex on the internet - it didn't work, though, and he got recalled for being a hypocritical dick.
