as scary as it is, there are more extreme Islamist groups than Al Qaeda like ISIS in Syria and Boko Haram in Nigeria

' . . Canada became the latest country to disclose that it has sent special forces to Nigeria, joining teams from the US, UK, France and Israel. The Canadian prime minister, Stephen Harper, said his country's forces would not engage in combat but were "to provide liaison and to assist Nigerian authorities in their search". . '

When you see a picture of the smiling leader of the armed insurgency there is a natural human tendency to perceive arrogance and to want to squelch. Hard. We should take a deep breath and try to do something constructive instead.

And actually it sounds like a pretty good idea to run multiple tracks to try and get back the kidnapped girls.

If only the Nigerian government was a bit better at maintaining their country, maybe Boko Haram would be just a pile of ashes and smoking corpses by now.

They are.

It sounds as though not all of them were:

"He said Christians among the girls have been forced to convert to Islam."

Normally I'm a non-interventionist person when it comes to foreign matters but in this case I would be perfectly okay with the US sending in special forces to deal with this issue, but nothing more.

You might want to read the second link for some more ideas of things to send Delta Force out after.

It basically said Boko Haram is more horrendous than even al-Qaeda, at least to me, and its time to buckle down on Islamic terrorism. Not a bad goal but still, military intervention shouldn't be used just yet.
