Has anyone read Attwood's, Oryx and Crake? It's about an alienated young man who creates a new race of humans, then releases an ebola like virus to wipe out the old one. I wonder how thorough CDC (until this thread I thought it was an invention of the walking Dead) psych evaluations are. There's a few groups who I would not trust around ebola: malthusians, doomsday cultists, the voluntary human extinction movement, weapons developers...

I've read Oryx and Crake. It's possible there're a couple of Crake-ish characters at the CDC, but I don't know that any of them have the opportunity and autonomy necessary to pull off a "flood". If they did, I'd think they'd pick an airborne pathogen.
Of course, the government could be looking to mutate Ebola into an airborne virus in order to wipe out all us plebes while the ultra-rich wait it out in bunkers. Anything's possible.

I assume you are parroting (inadvertently?) the views of Donald Trump.

The primary reasons the American doctor and female aid worker are being transported to the US is because i) they are US citizens and ii) the American ethos is never leave a man/women behind (it's ironic I should be telling you of all people this) iii) they will receive the best possible medical care in Atlanta and therefore increase the prospect they will survive iv) the risk they pose to infecting others in their quarantine is minimal

Dr Kent Brantley is an outstanding individual who could have stayed in the US making lots of money but chose to risk his own life to save others. He should be considered a hero quite unlike Donald Trump who has done nothing in the service of mankind. I'm sure Trump would move heaven and earth if one of his children became infected with Ebola overseas.

We Americans dodged a bullet when Trump dropped out of the presidential race.

Cure for Ebola.

While I would love to see a cure for Ebola, to say that I'm suspicious of this article for the paranoid conspiracy theories would be an understatement. So I'm not holding my breath for this to be proven true.

If anyone is interested in making Ebola into bioweapon it would already been done, or they would already have the samples to do so. And it would be considered top secret. You should be more worried about accidents, in this case.

Why of course. Everything I say is quoting or plagiarizing Trump, Limbaugh or, Beck. You should know me better by now.

Yes, I'm quite horrid. I'd write more but I'm in the middle of polishing my jackboots.
Besides, I think I've covered this topic enough.....

There are a number of experimental treatments for Ebola that have proven promising in chimps, but have not yet received human trials. Among the questions you do not want to be asking in the middle of an outbreak is: does this work and if it does how long does the virus remain contageous afterwords (up to two weeks in those who recover naturally). I suspect the one or two persons being repatriated are about to receive some of this experimental medication is an environment where its effects can be closely monitored. I would be somewhat surprise to find out that the plan is just to bring these people back to receive the same care that they could get in the field.

Yep, this was the first thing I thought. My brother got AIDS when it was relatively new and the doctors used him for a Guinea Pig. I think they were really kind and caring people, but nobody knew anything at that time, it was what they needed to do.

No, that's actually better as a preservative and for waterproofing than as a polish.

I don't think ebola is effective enough to be considered a viable agent.

Maybe it can be used as that, too.
I'll have to tell Mrs. Raptor.

According to Elizabeth Borathy, the best beauty cream came from the blood of young maidens.

Whatever you do, don't mention on any other site about your fear of a disease you have very little chance of getting, or people will tell you to "enjoy your so-called life" like they said to me. :(
