(and the Muslim brotherhood did call for destroying the pyramids, thanks goodness for Al-Sisi's coup d'état).

Did the Muslim Brotherhood ever consider the loss of tourism to Egypt if they had done so a reprehensible thing?

there is a certain element that doesn't care, the same ones probably want to ban alcohol and bikinis

ISIS also wants to blow up the pyramids and has threatened to do so

In that case, the Egyptians would definitely leave them a smear on the landscape, for the loss of tourist dollars alone.

No one can blow up the Pyramids. They have the mass of mountains. Even our nukes could not blow them up.

Thank the Lord - or in this case, Allah - for small favors.

This is sad as those artefacts have been around for thousands of years, you can never get them back. :(

I'm pretty sure it's possible to blow up the pyramids, as humans also blow up mountains to make room for roads or mining operations.

The statues in the pyramids would have been destroyed.

Yes, the Muslim Brotherhood did call for their destruction, if I am not mistaken, the founder of ISIS, Abu Ayyub al-Masri, came from the womb of MB in Egypt.

It's funny how the Turks could enter an ISIS-controlled area to retrieve some dead king's tomb (which would be seen as idol by ISIS) and yet weren't shot a bullet.

And the world still thinks that Erdegon has no link to ISIS' empowerment.

My theory is that Erdegon (and his party) is a stinky Islamist to the core despite their appearance (just check his statements regarding women), and his dream is to get back the Islamic ottoman caliphate, he couldn't do it in his country due to the large opposition from the seculars and army - so he found in isis a chance to implement this fantasy elsewhere.

Lost their heads? They never had any brains to begin with.

Erdogan also did sort of the same thing Putin did to avoid term limits: first be prime minister for a while, then become president and have his friend be prime minister under him.
Since they hate Assad and they hate the Kurds, and ISIS is fighting both of them, "the enemy of my enemy is me friend" seems to apply. It seems that in the entire Middle-east there are no real allies at all, everyone hates each other and everyone supports their own little pet terror group.
Some 10-15 years ago there was talk of letting Turkey join the EU, that's never going to happen now.
That video you posted linked to another one with John Stewart, pretty funny.

ISIS, Al Qaeda, Boko Haram are chasing a dream of a perfect Islamic history that only ever existed on paper. They are doomed to fail.

Savages.

If Turkey is going to behave like that, perhaps it's time we suggest to them that we can just as easily cut our ties to them, and support the foundation of an independent Kurdistan.

Very much like communism had, or as would happen with an unfettered free market, if the tea bagger right and their Koch masters ever got their way.

Turkey has been drifting away from the west for some time now but it is hard to hold them accountable for their support of terrorism given the support the US gives to Saudi Arabia of which most of this Islamist ideology originates and our own hand in the creation of ISIS. We all have blood on our hands but it is certainly distressing seeing Turkey drift away from secularism and democracy given their membership in NATO and near membership in the EU, I imagine any attempt at holding Turkey accountable and distancing our relationship with them would result in them becoming increasingly hostile and seeking partnership with China and Russia of who they are already forming closer relationships with. Its a strategic relationship the US feels it can't lose, there will never be an independent Kurdistan and I expect their to be bloodshed in the middle east for the foreseeable future.

I think things in Armenia and Azerbaijan could pop off soon, the Armenians are aligned with Russia and Iran and the Azeris(with new found oil and gas money) with Turkey and the US. Azerbaijan is another one of the geopolitical pivot points that Brzezinski speaks of in his "grand chess game", he speaks in the same light as Ukraine.

And to think the NATO countries bailed them out by setting up Patriot missiles to defend their territory every time Iraq or Syria got violent. And now they are actively foiling the efforts of NATO countries and their temporary allies. They went into Syria to get some old Ottoman Sultan's corpse but they can't be arsed to let NATO use their airfields. And these jerks are protected by the NATO umbrella, while the British living in the Falklands are deliberately excluded, and no one lifted a finger last time when the fascists invaded.

Well, if they want to be just temporary allies, we should consider the possibility of this alliance being at an end. Let's see if they shape up without American and NATO protection.
