And on the matter of you going to a better high school than me - very probably. My high school had a bad rep for bullying. Instead of trying to make me feel bad about my public school experiences, just be happy that you didn't have to live through them.

Ridicule, deride? You're trying to paint me as a troll. :shameonyou:
Really, though there comes a time to move on and harping on the evils of jockery at every opportunity 30+ years after high school comes off as milking it for sympathy even to the casual observer.

I'm just observing how jocks tend to be massive buttholes, based on my prior experience.

Actually, I was never in a frat - in fact, had little trouble in college. It's just in junior high, and high school, that I had had experiences that soured me to jocks.

Drug transactions, hazing, and partially nude women at a frat house????
Gee, I bet that's a first!

The difference is the sharing of photos without consent. Not the behaviour within the house. And this is not just abut jocks. The dental students at a Halifax university got into a huge mess over Facebook posts.

Hmm, maybe social media, phones that can take photos and being drunk and horny don't go together so well.

These days you have to assume some camera somewhere could be recording you. Brings new questions to issues of privacy. Like is there any?

Yeah, and it will only get worse if we get those camera glass things like Google Glass. Reminds me of a website called Blackout Korea, about people in South Korea being passed out on the street because of a heavy drinking culture. It's not bums or college kids, but very often respectable looking guys in their office suits. On the other hand the country is incredibly safe, on some of those pictures you see their phones or wallets lying next to them while they are passed out in the street. In many Western countries, if it isn't nailed down it'll be gone the next morning. Anyway, thanks to drinks and photos we can laugh at this: http://www.blackoutkorea.com/

Bleh, I don't get what people want with all those gadgets. Don't forget drones, they can fly over your garden to take pictures, but then it is likely illegal though.

Personally, I like these gadgets. Gives me something to fiddle with while I'm ignoring people.

The only use I could think of is for alleviating the incredible boredom and annoyance of public transport, but I have sort of have a rule to have a few drinks with me on a train anyway so I can stand the other noisy, drunk, stoned, stinky passengers. That's what people did before phones too.

I stare into space on the bus. Or out the window if I can.

The bus is even worse, they don't allow you to eat or drink there, so you need to be drunk before going in :(
It's really the only advantage of public transport, the other bus and train people are awful, they are loud, they are annoying. And it's expensive too, I really don't get why there are still people in trains. And if there's snow they don't run because the switches are frozen, so then you are stuck.

Sure, there are jocks who are okay, but from my personal experiences, for the most part they are asshats.

How is that any different than something a racist might say, right down to the "I have jock friends" part? They may even have the personal experience to back it up, just like you, so why is one kind of stereotyping wrong and another just fine? As another member said recently, if you met five dogs in your life and all of them bit you, you may be justified in being afraid of dogs, but you wouldn't be justified in saying all dogs bite, or even most.

The difference is, minorities are as diverse as whites - nerds, jocks, ghosts, etc - whereas jocks are just that, jocks. I know their record. Look at any high school or college sex abuse case, and invariably, it's jocks who are the perpetrators. Being a jock is not the same as being born into a particular race; rather, it's a matter of becoming a bully who gets all the breaks because they can run faster or throw a ball further. There are exceptions to the rule - I personally know those who represent the exception - but for the most part, jocks are assh*les because they choose to be, not because they had been born into that status.
As far as it being a fact that nerds wish they could throw a punch at their tormentors - yes it is, because it's what I had always dreamed of, as well as plenty of other nerds. I know it through personal observation.
