It's not at all like it never happened! But lets boil every tiny bit of Southern history and culture down to slavery, Jim Crow and racism, shall we? Lets just vilify every single one of us and every ancestor we ever had because except for a very small handful of enlightened white Southerners and all black Southerners, we all must be dumb as rocks racists because we actually see more to the South than the two horrible parts of our history.

After all, Southerners are nothing and not one single thing about us counts, except for everybody else's opportunity to throw tomatoes at us and put us down. Of course that one guy's comment of "I hate all old school white Southerners" wasn't even glanced at twice by the mods here, or by anybody else because old school white Southerners (NOT racist white Southerners, that isn't the same thing AT ALL) SIMPLY DON'T COUNT DO WE?!?!

I'm GD sick and tired of everybody deciding what we all think, feel and believe just because we are from below the Mason Dixon line and don't loathe it with every fiber of our beings, even though WE DO LOATHE racism, slavery and hatred. Of course though, any hatred toward us is purely justified, isn't it?

Sure there is! Eliminate all Southerners and then I'm sure that all racism, bigotry, discrimination, and every other bad thing in the world will be gone, right?

You're right and I shouldn't have taken it out on you, but lately here it's been nothing but "Southerners are racist" and "Southerners are ignorant" etc, etc, etc. I'm so used to seeing "Southerners = racist" here that my mind went right there. I do apologize for directing that at you, when it's actually at all the people who say it over, and over, and over, and when they don't say it outright they hint at it over, and over, and over. If people keep assuming something about you when you try and explain it nicely to them time and time again, and they refuse to listen or even call you an outright liar, you get to the blowing up point. I blew up at the wrong person and I apologize. The sentiment stands though, and maybe the people who it's for will read it and know it's for them, but probably not, as they usually can't even see how they are completely unreasonable.

I appreciate you being chill about it. I've had it with the crap people are saying on here about Southerners, and thank God I haven't seen news on TV since my mother died because if I had to see the commentary about it on there I would have thrown something through it already lol. Also, I haven't been on FB to tell you the latest yet. Read my post in the Haven and it gives you a little overview of it. Remember a few months back when I suspected that and then decided it wasn't going on? Well it was. I'm almost 100% sure, but I'm going to find out for sure before I do anything. I've got a plan now and I'll tell you on FB or in private, but no, nobody is getting physically harmed lol. And no, I'm not getting soft in my old age, I'm going for the throat in a different way. I'll fill you in.

Also, it's that time of the month and I'm moody and can't sleep. Been up all night but so have my girls and we have been doing some craft painting and I was getting kind of headachey from that and took a break at the computer, plus I hadn't eaten since about 3 in the afternoon so I was cranky from that. My daughter made some omelettes (speaking of good eggs lol) and I ate and then felt better. And I felt stupid for taking all that out on you. However, now that you know the stress I'm going through with all that other and the hormonal stuff too, you can see how I would have just unloaded on whoever I first saw.

So that is my long winded explanation of why and how, and my thanks for accepting my apology. I'll catch you on FB later in the day. Or you can call me if you want, I'll be around. I'm about to go to Walmart, they just opened and we need more craft paint. One of the things I'm painting is this lamp I have on the organ in the dining room. It has a cut glass shade and it's got flowers etched on it from the inside. I'm painting it to look a little like a Tiffany style. It's looking nice but i don't have all the colors I want. The girls are up and all "crafty" with me today as well so we are going to look at some embroider thread because my older daughter wants me to put some designs on her bedroom curtains and to monogram her bed linens. Both girls also want me to show them how to do that so I'll be busy with that somewhat and maybe I'll keep my mind off all the things that are pissing me off.

Nope. Burning down a black church or a Muslim mosque is one as well. Anything that is directed toward a person or group because of their race, religion, sexual orientation or country of origin or ethnicity is considered a hate crime. The only thing that I seriously doubt would be included in that would be something against Southerners simply because we are Southern and people assume we are racist or ignorant. An example would be if someone vandalized and ruined or burned an exhibit devoted to Southern heritage because even though it makes no mention of slavery it could still be assumed to be endorsing it, so someone could easily justify that by saying that they were protesting the fact that slavery used to exist and it would be seen as motivation to remove anything that remotely reminds anyone of anything that happened in the South before Civil Rights. That wouldn't be considered a hate crime. However, if someone did the same thing to an exhibit devoted to the Civil Rights movement in the South that would be rightly seen as the hate crime it is, and as more motivation to remove anything that remotely reminds anyone of anything that happened in the South before Civil Rights.

In other words, it's open season on everything about the South except the good things that the Civil Rights era brought us.

I hate the way this is coming across because you always hear racists b***h about people being racist against whites over every little thing anytime something about actual racism comes up, and I don't see this as racism against whites at all, I see this as bigotry against Southern whites because people assume we are racist. They also assume everything about the South is racist. Therefore they paint us as hateful terrible people who are celebrating slavery and racism any time both of the words "Southern" and "pride" are uttered in the same sentence. In other words all they can see about us is slavery and Jim Crow, so not only labeling anything and anybody they choose as racist is ok, but so is destroying anything that could possibly be traced back to the era before Civil Rights. We aren't proud of our past, but we either weren't born then or weren't old enough to do anything at all about anything, but we are still blamed for stuff we don't endorse and didn't or wouldn't do. So tear down everything related to the Civil War because simply having something to commemorate it can't be seen as anything more than a direct endorsement of slavery, right? Or at least that's the way it's seen.

These Racists! Andrew Young who stood for Civil Rights says 93% of Black murders are done by Racist Blacks.

Then there are the rapes and robberies which are Hate Crimes, done to Blacks by Racist Blacks.

The 20,000 white women raped each year by Blacks, they are Racist and deserve it.

The three million Blacks in Prison for violent felonies involving guns are there because Police are haters.

All this just because of skin color. It is because white people do not love Black Skin.

Racist! Racist! Racist! Racist! Racist! Racist! That explains everything.

Just because there are black racists and criminals does not excuse the actions of their white counterparts.

In this thread we are talking about (1) a real act of pro Black vandalism, and (2) a fictional act of anti Black vandalism made up as a hypothetical. Not saying that anti Black hooliganism doesnt also really happen, but no such instance has yet been mentioned on this thread. So which thing are you referring to as "the worst kind of mischief"?

I am referring at large to all the things which anybody with half a brain knows are racist [the behavior of the whole city government of ferguson MO for one]. however, I am guilty of meandering out beyond the strict definition of this thread as you described.
