I find it ironic that Wal-Mart stopped selling them. The most unprincipled and greedy retailer all the sudden decides to temporarily grow a conscience over a mere flag and screw themselves out of revenue.
I know..... The thing that gets ME is, who even knew they sold such products----no one would've ever KNOWN. At the very least, keep them for sale, until somebody says something.
If I had a store I'd have them on sale.
Me, TOO!! You'd make-up for lowering the price, because of VOLUME!!
I just can't understand, for the LIFE of me, how all this happened!! I mean, just cuz a psycho was holding the flag, in a PICTURE!?!?!? Then, it had ONLY to do with the flag on the grounds of a government-owned building, in the state where the massacre happened (it shouldn't even have gotten THAT far); then, the whole friggin' country's gone mad!! I don't get it!!
The one GOOD thing, about all of this, is that I haven't seen any country-wide outrage to ban GUNS!! I guess, maybe, they figured that would be a lost cause, again, so they picked-on something else! UNbeLIEVable!!
I've read how people all OVER the South still have / fly / display confederate stuff----the reason being, IMO, is because people stood their ground, and were like: "No, we're not getting rid of this----you'll just have to get-over yourself!!" THAT'S the way it SHOULD be!! SURELY, people KNOW that if you give an inch, someone will then want a MILE!! I'd rather stand and die, than live on my knees!!
The other thing that really ticks-me-off, is that flag only became a symbol of racism, when the KKK HI-JACKED it!!

"What we know is a drop; what we don't know, is an ocean." (Sir Isaac Newton)
What's the point? What are we to gain from all this? This will absolutely NOT end racism. Whoever is thinking is living in a fantasy dream. As long we have differences, we always have racism, sexism, bigotry, etc. I know that's not right but there's no way around it.
As to the original topic, cancelling 'The Dukes Of Hazzard' because of a flag on the car roof is like canceling 'The
Honeymooners' because Ralph threatened his wife....remember 'One of these days, to the moon, Alice!', while
making a fist?
He never hit her!
They loved each other, and loved to fight!
But will some politically-correct people censor the show because he was 'making threats, and being a bad example?
Sigh.

Yes. It was "the Confederate Battle Flag", not the actual flag of the putative nation of the CSA.
The actual "Confederate Flag" had red and White stripes, and a blue upper corner with white stars. The stripes were fewer and broader than the US flag, but it was still pretty similar looking to the U.S. flag. So that actual "Confederate flag" was hard to distinquish from the US flag in the heat of battle. So they had a special battle flag drawn up to carry on the battlefield-to look different than the stars and stripes. Thus the "stars and bars" was born. Have often wondered if they might have been influenced by the "cross of st. Andrew"(the symbol of Scotland) -when they designed this second flag (because many Southerners have Scottish, and or Scotch-Irish ancestry). Or maybe the similarity to the diagonal red cross on White flag of Scotland (that's now embedded inside England's Cross of St. George to form the Union Jack) is just a coincidence.

I thought Cartoon Network brought back Speedy Gonzales because Mexican people signed a petition saying they believed he was a positive character because he's brave, heroic, and loyal.
Well, that may be how Mexican people see him. I just see him as super obnoxious with his "ArribaarribaarribsandeleandelaYEEHAW!!" However, his cousin Slowpoke is hilarious! But that's a stereotype of "lazy" Mexicans. But he's the only character in the cartoons who's slow. It's not hateful, it's humor. No it isn't It's wrong. It's right... arrrgh!!
In Canada there doesn't seem to be nearly as much censorship. I mean the US Cartoon Network will show stuff in American cartoons that they'll censor if it's from Canada or Japan. Go figure. ![]()
They banned Pepe Le Pew because they think he's a negative stereotype of French people (even his skunk smell supposedly is the stereotype that they're unhygienic)? But I used to see Pepe on Bugs and Tweety all the time. Which I didn't care for because about the only variation was how the girl cat would get the stripe down her tail.
And yet it's perfectly okay to have a cartoon where a sea sponge gets a horrible splinter injury that spurts out pus all over everyone, an octopus to get his toenail ripped off with blood shown, and a so-called villain to become so depressed he attempts suicide. Somebody help me. Please.
