And that there is rather screwed up, though I might disagree on the point that it would specifically be 'liberal' lawyers benefiting. Lol Perhaps they ought to hold pencil manufacturers responsible if someone decides to jab someone in the eye with a pencil.

Social liberalism by design is authoritarian as it favors the group over the individual.
Obama is entirely a social liberal (and a dumb one at that that has messed up race relations in your country), and Bernie is the same. Bernie hates gunz just as much as Obama and Hillary.
All three use perceived social ills to base their opinions on, without looking at the big picture; whether they really are social ills and what effects their opinions may have on society ("if I had a son"). You need to think rather than feel when you lead. Well, you don't, but I'd rather someone that thinks things through.
As I said, the other side doesn't look much better, but it'd probably be better overall.
That is not what authoritarian means:
authoritarian
1.
favouring, denoting, or characterized by strict obedience to authority
2.
favouring, denoting, or relating to government by a small elite with wide powers
3.
despotic; dictatorial; domineering
Obama is not entirely any kind of socialist, and bernie is a democratic socialist...not a social liberal, anyways. There really isn't a lot of room for authoritarianism in democratic socialism. But as for the blanket term 'socialism' that referrers to an economy in which the distribution of goods and means of production are owned collectively or by the state room is left for authoritarian features to be included.
And if you read the article in the OP it even says Bernie has more reasonable views on guns than Hillary and doesn't want to hold manufacturers responsible for gun crimes, I am unsure exactly where Obama stands on that. And as far as I can tell Bernie is the only candidate looking at the big picture and acknowledging the problem of the wealthy elite having too much power and a very disproportionate amount of wealth compared to most the rest of the population...that he is not taking campaign donations from that group says a lot to me.
Then of course there is the ending private for profit prisons, making college more accessible rather than a privilege for the well to do, make sure full time workers are making a living wage, decriminalize marijuana so the feds can't interfere with the growing number of states legalizing marijuana. I don't see any other politicians actaully addressing any of these things.
How is it that the republicans with their wanting to undo the legalization of gay marrige, blame the economic problems on minorities and the poor and use much dehumanizing language about them, denying any and all climate change so the oil industry cant be challenged and having a pissing contest of who can say the most ignorant over the top things...are going to be the better option?

Both parties are poison, it's like picking between colon cancer and bowel cancer, they'll both kill you, just in slightly different ways. Personally, I'm voting for whoever has the best shot at taking down Hilary, no one I like is in the race this year, so I'll get more out of voting against my most hated candidate than voting for my favorite. Not that I'm particularly threatened by any of the Democratic nominees, they can't get any of their more noxious agenda items through the House, and they have no chance of retaking the House anytime soon, I just particularly loath Hilary Clinton as a living embodiment of everything I hate about politics.

Liberals are judged by their intentions rather than the disastrous unintended consequences of their policies. Their media lapdogs will spin it as "green" job creation and the unemployed workers will be retrained for "free" to fix wind turbines and solar panels. Those who are afraid of heights will learn to fix Chevy Volts. While the employers will be painted as greedy capitalists who got what was coming to them. It will be touted as another successful redistribution of wealth.

What's always gotten me is that how the news media is traditionally liberally slanted except for Fox but the left despises Fox for being slanted.

I don't like either party, of course I don't think Bernie Sanders is your typical democratic candidate, just rather trying to get the nomination and even a lot of people who dislike him would still probably prefer him to Hillary. He's the best option I see all the other candidates running for either parties nomination are too corrupt, too authoritarian, over the top and irrational or any combination of those for my liking. Voting against your most hated candidate is a good thing especially if its Hillary Clinton lol.

Because the media as a whole does not have as liberal of a slant as Fox and its followers claim, and probably never has been.

It's about time we destroyed the hold that the gun industry lobby has over our laws. Reasonable gun control is going to happen. No one is going to take guns away, but we want background checks for all sales public and private at the very least. All guns should mark their bullets using a firing pin with a unique pattern.

I just hope the background checks will be based on if you have committed violent crimes and demonstrated you're likely to use a weapon violently......rather than 'nope it says here you were diagnosed with depression a while back so no guns for you ever'. So specifically it should be a 'criminal' background check.
