I've never heard that about Elizabeth Smart's dad. In fact, he seems to have no trouble mass-producing. That family has like 7 or 8 kids!

Alot of gay Mormons get married because the LDS leaders tell them to.Mormons believe if they don't get married thell go to hell! as crazy as it sounds it's true. It's encouraged to have large families because each Mormon family has too pay 10% of their income to the LDS church It's a money making business.

Ahem, I believe if you'll do a bit of research you'll find out they believe they can't go to the highest level of heaven unless they marry in the Temple, and go through a special ceremony. Any Mormon over the age of thirty who hasn't married is looked upon as a bit of an outcast. As for the large families, they don't believe in birth control. It's also a bit of a tradition.

Prof is correct - they do not go to hell, rather they are denied admission to the highest level of heaven.

As for birth control, it is generally left to the discretion of the couple. However, the church "encourages" large families due to the beleif that there are spirits waiting to become people in the spirit world. You can't get to heaven if you don't experience mortal life. In other words, you are doing a "good deed" for those spirits by creating bodies for them to inhabit.

Yeah the lowest heaven to them is like hell. :) OH do know what they do in that Temple when they get married they are given "sacerd garments' AKA Mormon magical underwear :D Before participating in the secret Endowment ceremony. Temple partons as they are called. are led to the washing and anionting room. There temple worker's ceremoniously wash various part's of the person's NUDE:? body with water reaching under the open shield as it is called and anoint the person with oil in a similar manner. This is the preparation for being dressed in the Garment of the Holy priesthood a sort of magic underwear :o with masonic markings sewn into it. Then even more bizarre the Mormon is given a new secret name. They say it like this with this garment AKA magic underwear 8) I give you a new name which you should always remember :? and which you must keep sacred and Never reveal except at a certain place that will be shown to you hereafter. The name is.......... OH when all this stuff is going on like the stuff about keeping all this a secret There all doing this slash throat implications. and poking out the eye implications creepy!! I just think there weird and I don't know why they call them self's Christian's? .......... Here's a another smiley face just because I like using them :)

I once read this book, by Deborah Laake, called "Secret Ceremonies" which was very revealing about a lot of the "secret" stuff. Interesting enough, she has since left the Mormon Church.

Yeah, I've read that book too. The thing with her is that she seemed pretty angry at the Mormon Church. With someone like that, it's hard to take whatever they have to say as "fact" because they are promoting their own agenda.

well, isn't it nice of the Mormons to have progressed to respectfully calling them 'Gays" while having such negative feelings about them to call them much much worse names.
I sincerly don't think they call homosexuals 'Gay', as calling someone Gay is a sign of repect.
name calling like Qu**r or F****t , sodomites even. . but Gay?

When i was using the word Gay i did not mean it to be implied as a sign of respect.

oh, yes, the Gay community worked for decades to get the negative connotations of being called homo erased from the social conciousness. You know they were listed as a 'disorder' in earlier volumes of the DSM, too just like AS is now. Only they didn't think they had a 'disorder' and lobbied and protested and marched until it got changed.

why wouldn't you want to respect people, is what I want to know? are you one of those people that look down on people that are not like you?
