Black Friday off to BAD start in Colorado...

There is a double standard, the media does not usually describe politically or socially motivated attacks done by non Muslims as acts of terrorism. We saw that recently in Charleston where Roof deliberately targeted that church for its symbolic value and had a clear political social motive. I was glad to see virently anti abortion Mike Hukabee describe the attack in Colorodo Springs as an act of domestic terrorism.
Looks like the Governor of CO also described him as a, 'terrorist'. Perhaps this is a turning point. My guess is it could depend on how much that descriptor gets picked up by the media before the police release enough information clarifying if he was influenced by either GOP politics or conservative Christian beliefs. Neither would want one of their followers to be branded as such.

They say the coward "surrendered" at 1652 MT. I'm saddened they got him alive. He supposedly left explosives behind so the ordeal is still not over for investigators. "Official" tally: 11 total hit, 5 were law enforcement.
I am actually glad, now he doesn't get the opportunity to die in a 'blaze of glory' via getting shot by the cops or shooting himself before they could shoot him. Any second thoughts about the whole matter now will have plenty of time to haunt him.
Yabbut now our tax dollars will help keep him alive for years to come (unless hopefully he gets jailhouse justice ala Dalmer). Also I believe he will always think he did the right thing and will never have any "second thoughts" or regrets and will forever stay a "legend in his own mind". I agree with Hickenlooper that he is indeed a terrorist in which case he'll never show any remourse. Those who take time to plan out such a massacre seldom do. The only benefit of him being "taken alive" is as you pointed out, sympathysers can't consider him a "martyr".

And now perhaps we can eventually find out what prompted him to consider the idea, and what encouraged him to follow through on it. With luck, we can make changes in our society so that these senseless killings stop.

It simply accomplished mere torment and tragedy of people whom will deal with the demons of such for a lifetime.

There was a small article about this in my local media, and what they stated about the guy's personality made me think that the guy must surely be schizoid. Any one know if he has any diagnosis?
I wouldn't entirely trust media reports on the guys personality just yet...especially if they are trying to jump on mental illness/conditions. So far sounds like he knowingly shot up a planned parenthood clinic out of opposition to abortion and the organization sounds more like terrorism than a case of mental illness induced freak out.
They were telling what people were describing him as; as a loner, weird, peeping tom etc etc. Not stating any specific illness. So no, "Omg he's an aspie! Kill it! Kill it with fire!"

You wouldn't trust the media reports yet....
yet you have already formed an opinion that it is terrorism.
Ummm... I'm getting mixed messages here!

My take on that wasn't that it was a mixed message, only that there were two parts to it. As in, "don't trust the media on reporting his medical conditions (ie, mental illnesses if any) as they have no idea. However, we do know what his actions were and the one quote released indicates he intended to terrorize PP and its clients & supporters"

None of those specifically point to schizoid PD though, especially the peeping tom thing...since schizoids mostly keep to themselves and don't really go out of their way to interact with people let alone harass or kill them. But also this was an act of terrorism so the worst thing they can do is try to pin it on some mental disorder since it downplays the significance of that fact.
