Same goes for anywhere else.

It would only be considerate to others if you were given their permission to disrupt their plans.

Are you freaking joking ? How is proposing to a partner at a park inconveniencing ANYONE else unless they -- without permission -- ordered the park closed for the duration of the proposal ?

I wouldn't find it inconvenient that someone else was proposing marriage to a partner while my family was at a park. What I will find inconvenient is having the highway blocked while I am on the way to work, or to an event for my kids, or to a hospital for an emergency for myself or a family member or friend.

And they boasted about the act on Instagram. Raging narcissists.

You might be fine if an unscheduled event happened at the park you were visiting.

Other people (including park employees) would find it to be an inconvenience, even if said event was a marriage proposal.

A good amount of people are bothered when an unplanned marriage proposal happens.

The majority are always bothered and inconvenienced by unplanned events, no matter how innocent said events are.
Unplanned events are still an inconvenience, even if people are fine with it.

People always boast about everything they do, be it a marriage proposal, birthday or something else.

Parks are public places to hang out, meaning for use of multiple people at once...the person who thinks they are entitled to the entire park without having to share is inconsiderate. Also I personally would not feel my plans were disrupted if I saw a guy proposing to his girlfriend at the park. However stopping traffic when people are trying to get places, potentially important places does disrupt peoples plans...proposing at a park so long as you aren't standing on the walking/bike trail doesn't actually disrupt anyone's plans anymore than people coming to walk their dog or have a picnic.

Updated info: Dude Shuts Down Gulf Freeway to Propose to Woman Six Months After His Divorce

I'm glad the a**hole is facing charges for it. Throw the book at him. Endangering everyone's safety for his narcissistic stunt. Pathetic.

Also, note the timeline:

Married to Wife 1 in August 2013. Separated from Wife 1 "8 months later."

Second date with Eventual Wife 2 was "a year and a half ago." It's not a stretch of the imagination to think that Eventual Wife 2 was the reason his first marriage failed. I bet she was the mistress.

Divorce final in June 2015. Proposes December 2015.

How romantic.

Maybe he'll tone it down in marriage proposal number 3, currently slated for mid-2017.

He's 24 and already divorced one time, and now engaged a second ?

Gee, he moves fast. What does he do for a living ?

And they have been charged with obstruction of a highway, a class B misdemeanor. They don't look like such a happy couple now. Maybe they can have their marriage ceremony in jail. :chin:

They are no less selfish than the rest of the Houston drivers (Yes Houston is known for bad and selfish drivers).

It is oddly romantic though.

Agreed. Our drivers are horrible.

Not only was that selfish, dangerous, and stupid, the woman was an idiot for getting out of the car! When you see a weird situation that could possibly end with you thrown off a bridge or being run over, walk in the other direction! How was she to know he was proposing? He could have been up to anything.

I've been married to my husband twice. The first time we got engaged as a joke right after we met and followed through with it. The second time was in our kitchen while I was mopping. One of the things I love about my husband is that SAFETY is important to him, unlike these dips.

TBH, she should have been charged, too. She comes across as a self-entitled brat.

Stopping traffic across multiple lanes like that could have resulted in a multicar pileup, with multiple serious injuries or fatalities. This goes well beyond the danger to the couple themselves. Even people in the lanes going the opposite direction could have wound up in accidents. Attention is *required* for safe driving on a freeway, and especially during rush hour. Behaviour like this, that distracts even one or two drivers on both sides of a freeway, potentially puts hundreds of people at risk for accident and injury. Irresponsible and narcissistic acts like this need to be seen for what they are, lest they be imitated by the misguided.
