President Obama Vetoes Bill To Repeal Health Law
Well, you could just let them stay sick but then they'll be unemployable and you'll pay even more when they get on government assistance. Then you can cut assistance and make them sick, homeless, and starving. Then like all nations with large populations of starving people you can deal with the violent revolution that follows. Society is a team sport, we either all win or we all lose.
That would be nice if all of the players wanted to play, but too many want to take the easy way out.
AMEN!! !! !! !

Then why should I pay for their carelessness for having a heart attack for eating too many Fatburgers in their life?
Why should i support someone else's child (child tax credit, k-12, etc)? I dont have kids, never will, but those services are necessary for the country to stay competitive internationally, which helps me in the long run, just as a healthy workforce does. Again, society is a team sport, the way the nation goes, so goes all of us. If you want an individual sport you're welcome to find a spot in the mountains and rough it out pre-civilization style and not contribute to society in any way whatsoever...of course your life expectancy wil drop to 35, you'll work twice as hard for half as much, and you'll constantly be living under true evolutionary pressure to survive a harsh environment-- tough choice huh?
Knowledge does not kill you and causes the hardening of the arteries. Knowledge benefits you than having a cheeseburger everyday of your life and I get suck with your irresponsibility. The best it can do is sleepless nights studying.

Since when are all heart attacks caused by McDonald's?
Tax crap food to help fund healthcare? Sounds good to me. Tax it to subsidize healthy food? Also great.
Either way, Preventative care costs society one heck of a lot less than paying for people's trips to the ER.
Similarly, education costs less than jails..and both, in the end, provide society with far better results and profit than just the initial money saved.
I'm surprised to read that here.a place where people converge - who have issues that can outright prevent working for any decent wage let alone also affording private healthcare.. People who can eat the purest organic, quality food (which by the way, is far more pricey than crap food, so kind of hard when you can't afford that either) and it wouldn't change their wage-earning abilities or lack thereof one iota.

Doesn't negate that I'm paying for someone else's stuff, because that's essentialy all your argument is. You're paying for it because society deemed it necessary and you want to continue being part of society. There are only two options: deal with it or leave. Of course the law can change, but that's out of my hands and yours, it's society's decision, of which we're only 1/365,000,000.

Knowledge benefits the welfare of everyone. They are promoting to the welfare of themselves and society at large. Junk food takes away from society in the costs of people who end up in the hospital going on their third heart attack because they refuse to eat correctly. That money in hospital costs can be well spent educating our kids and the future. Especially teaching people to eat correctly.

...and having that person healthy and working helps society as well.
You assume anyone that's on government sponsored healthcare has done it to themselves...do you have any evidence that's the case aside from anecdotal evidence and assumption?

Exercise is up to the person. Its not up to the government to tell me to work out. If the person wants to be obese they chose that lifestyle. But they pay a penalty for it and milllions of people are stuck of paying their medical bills because they chose to being fat. I have no pity of these people. To me, that is a sign of laziness and slothness.

So apparently, All illness that requires medical intervention is preventable and fixable just by eating healthy.?
Is eating quality food an important component in general wellness? Of couse. Does it prevent and cure all issues that require medical intervention? If it did this page would be a ghost town.
You seem stuck on one point - but there's far more to illness and healthcare than single-source preventable disease. Were all illness self-induced and curable via diet, i might agree with you..but it's not.

You choose your lifestyle. I do not need the government to tell me what to do. I do not think people should pay for other people being a sloth.

Cool, so you'd like to deny the vast majority because of a few bad apples, and you're willing to sink the entire nation's productivety to do so. Talk about cutting off the nose to spite the face. All this discussion is doing is making me question the education system i despise even more, apparently they don't teach the benefits of teamwork anymore.

There are alternate ways of kids getting an education like attending trade schools or getting an GED. If they do not want to be forced to go to school, leave them alone. They will get their education in a prison somewhere. Then they were learn it was a stupid idea to leave school when they are someones love slave in the shower stall. I also enjoy someone pumping my gas for me or cleaning my table when I go out to eat.
