I got to thinking about this last night: If one did win the huge jackpot and took the one lump sum, you would have to be constantly watching over so many bank accounts, investments, etc. that it would become like a full time job. Sure, you could hire someone to do that, but can you trust them with that much money? You would really have to be careful on who you chose for that job. Not to mention that there is going to be a commotion when you go to deposit the check at any bank, no matter how large it is with that sum of money. That will attract attention from so many different areas if you are trying to stay incognito from the public eyes. I actually think that this amount may be the tipping point to where it would be better to do the 30 annual payments rather than the one lump sum. That way, it would give you more time to set up the right banking accounts/trust funds to handle the transfers and would not be such a red flag for others. Plus, it would be like winning a smaller lottery every year for thirty years.
