Call me crazy but I always felt the USA should legalize judicial corporal punishment nationwide. It should be used as a punishment for drunk drivers, thieves, bank robbers, child molesters, rapists, and people who wrongfully assault innocent people. 6 months of jail and community service don't suffice.

what part of "no cruel and unusual punishments" do you take issue with?

I don't understand why you ask. I'm entitled to my opinion just like everyone else. BTW, I personally believe that whipping a criminal is less offensive than allowing him/her to drunk-drive and hit people on the streets numerous times.

of course you are. my point is that you'd have to change the constitution.

Personally I wish I WAS spanked more as a kid, and especially for lying or being dishonest. As long as the spanking is not excessive and reasonable (a good 3 swats with a paddle or hand), that should be sufficient.

There is a problem with people going overboard and being abusive to their kids, which is sad. But still, spanking is effective when done at the right time and in the right way.

When I was a kid, I was swatted with the paddle in school multiple times. I had frequent spanker's milage. My daycare monitor spanked me on the butt with her shoe a couple of occasions for when I acted like a butt. :P

She made me put shaving cream in my mouth when I said a cuss word. And actually, the joke was on her. I like the taste of shaving cream, and the texture. :) But I took the hint, and stopped my potty mouth, as a token of good faith. Even though she disciplined me a few times, we generally had a good relationship, and I loved and respected her. She was very much like a grandmother.

I'm thankful that I did receive some hands on discipline as a kid, even if it wasn't quite enough. It taught me boundaries and basic respect for people in authority. And fortunately, they did not abuse that authority on me. I feel really bad for all those who have had to suffer under extreme abusive people.

I'm not personally fond of Ted Cruz, but I don't fault him for spanking his kids.

Bill, to be fair, Cruz put his 'business out there trying to impugn Hillary Clinton. That makes it fair game...

I think its relevant. The discipline methods that a person uses on their own children says a lot about their values and worldview. If someone can't even make the correct decision about how to teach their own children, how can we expect them to lead an entire country?

I truly believe that child physical and emotional abuse is the #1 cause of violence in the world. If we want to get a handle on violence, we have to stop the vicious cycle. I would never vote for anyone who advocated spanking. I would never vote for anyone who lacks basic respect for other human beings, especially children.

That is true - - he said something to the extent that Hilary should be spanked like he spanks his daughter, showing his contempt and lack of respect for another Presidential candidate. From the way Trump insults Cruz, you'd think Cruz would be a bit more sensitive to the feelings and standing of his peers.

What exactly about Cruz would make one think he would be sensitive about anything or anyone...

cruz is just a symptom of an ugliness reflected in his supporters. without them he'd just be some nasty vindictive local prosecutor in some texas backwater.

But now that he want's to spank Hillary and you're #1 WP ally is upset you've trimmed your sales as expected.
This only further validates your partisanship.

What's the big deal? I'm as liberal as they come but still, when I see how a lot of kids act, it makes me wonder why they took spankings out of schools. Also, I think they should start hanging people for heinous crimes like they used to.

if ted cruz were not a brutal inspector javert-wannabe who talks about spanking his daughter in public and opposes universal health care, I would not think him to be as nasty a piece of work as I do. if his party were not so chock full of fellow inspector javert wannabes, I would not be as partisan as I am, but I am a democrat for reasons of self-defense from his ilk.

Such obsessiveness about partisanship. You seriously need to get some sex.

Oh, I perfectly well know he isn't, I'm just saying he should be.

You can bet it wasn't conservatives that got spankings taken out of schools.
It is still allowed by state law in several states.
