Yes

He advocated for racial segregation, in addition to saying some less than nice words about white people.

Liking an individual but hating/disliking the race is a thing, you know.

He gave himself the title 'The Greatest' but Joe Louis had the better record and longevity.

When he was in the nation of islam he made a bunch of openly racist statements. He berated several of his black opponents as uncle tom's and white mans champion. And he got very personal when belittling oppenents. He was not running for President but his job was to fight people. He cheated on women in his life. The racist language ended when he left the nation of islam. Today the "trash talking" culture in sports is disliked in some quarters. If you dislike it, Ali shares a good part of the blame. Most reports were he was unusually friendly and giving to fans of all races.
