Ahmed Mohamed returns to Texas
Seriously? When ANY ordinary electronic timing device - clock, watch, phone, iPad, kitchen timer, et cetera - can be easily converted to a detonator with only a pocket knife, a few bits of wire, and some tape, it's a wonder that Texans don't outlaw every time-keeping device ever invented!
Just get over it, already!

Admit it, it looks like a bomb. Even Bill Maher agrees it looked like a bomb and I don't believe the kid was totally naive either.
In the Navy, we received training in how to spot IEDs. Essentially, it all came down to any ordinary object in a place where you would not normally find it ... a suitcase sitting upright by the side of a freeway ... a pressure cooker along a parade route ... a piece of pipe in the back seat of a car ... a box truck parked on the lawn next to a building ...
What I see in that video is a kid's school project, like the dozens I saw and built for science and engineering classes during high school and university. The only reason it looked like a bomb to some light-skinned people is because it was a technical device in the possession of a brown-skinned, Arabic-speaking, Muslim boy.
I have openly carried similar-looking devices around toll plazas, freeway ramps, parking structures, airports, and other public transportation facilities, and no one asked me what I was doing, why I was there, or what it was that I was holding - maybe because I seem to be nothing more than a white man of late middle age going about his business!
Racism seems to have a lot more to do with identifying a brown-skinned Muslim kid's science project as a "bomb" than any ignorant opinion on what a "real bomb" looks like.

I'll admit nothing. It looks like a clock.
Bill Maher also said this, so obviously anything he has to say will be a reflection of islamophobic bias.
Guys like Bill Maher are the reason I have to be groped by security every time I want to board a plane, so f**k him.
Do you keep your dissembled clocks in a metal pencil box with wires hanging everywhere?
You folks really don't seem to grasp the concept of ZERO TOLERANCE, this kid got of easy. Again little WHITE kids draw a gun and get expelled, that is ZERO TOLERANCE.
You walked around with a briefcase with a timer on it with wires and **** s**t hanging out? It's not even a science project or invention, it is a reassembled clock stuck in a pencil case for the purpose of what? 14 year old boys aren't that stupid, they're edgy and push people's buttons and apparently this kid has some very smart litigious parents that made themselves wildly rich beyond any of our dreams and for what? The cops did way worse things to me even younger and I didn't even get an apology!
Absolutely this looks like a bomb if you added charges and it wouldn't take much to convert it, like Maher said try to get that **** thru TSA and see what happens. They'll be flossing your teeth from thes back. I don't think it is unreasonable to think it was bomb, he wasn't charged so what is the controversy about? You might not like Texas' laws but making something that looks like a bomb is considered a class A misdemeanor. The kid closed the box up with like piece of cord to keep from "looking suspicious" which how could anybody think that?
don't let a good narrative distract you from the truth
Brown kids with alarm clocks = "threat to national security"
White kid driving a Cadillac = "Nothing to see here."
Brown kid driving a Cadillac = "Heavily armed, drug-dealing gang member, with a rap sheet as long as your arm, and driving a stolen car."

The kid used what was available to him, that's all. Who are you to decide what is appropriate for a brown-skinned, Arabic-speaking Muslim kid to use in a perfectly legal school project, or for anyone for that matter? If you have any real authority or knowledge to determine what a brown-skinned, Arabic-speaking Muslim kid may or may not do, then go right ahead and do something about it - something other than insulting others and treating racism as a legitimate reason for depriving a brown-skinned, Arabic-speaking Muslim kid of his rights.
Ahmed Mohamed's only offense was "Learning While Brown".

It's not legal in Texas to create devices to look like bombs, that's the law.
Also Irving, Texas is over 70% non-white and has a foreign born population of 33%. They must really hate brown people there huh?
What rights was this kid deprived of? He was booked and released, they did the same thing to me when I was 12 or 13 for alleged truancy and I would say those city beat cops were probably a lot less nice.
There wasn't anything racist about this, he would of been suspended and booked all the same had he been white or black or hispanic. The teacher in his classroom complained that the device looked like a bomb and do you think these chicken **** administrator or cop is going to personally determine if this device is a bomb or not? SWAT let 30 people get murdered in Orlando during a 3 hour hostage taking because they were afraid of explosives, I don't think that's something people mess around with.
Watch the video, the kid didn't do anything at all to that clock. There was nothing scientific or inventing about it. he took the guts out of an alarm clock and put it into a metal pencil box. He knew what it looked like and a teacher warned him what it looked like too before it got reported.
Brown kids with alarm clocks = "threat to national security"

You mean:
White, Black, Brown, Yellow and Pink lawful guys/gals in private/outside of a gun-free zone with semi-automatic rifles = "constitutional right"
Brown, Black, White, Yellow and Pink kids with something that may look like an explosive at school = "police called"
Brown, Black, White, Yellow and Pink guys/gals with a drawing of a firearm at school = "police called"
No need to make it based on racism, as all kids will suffer stupidity here. Zero tolerance laws are what need to go.
I recall the police were called to a school recently because "brownies" were somehow racist. There's problems here, and it's not "Islamophobia".
Brown kids with alarm clocks = "threat to national security"

Eh, you could really say that about any timing device or striker mechanism. In fact, when I got expelled from middle school under zero tolerance for making a shocking pen out of a mechanical pencil and cigarette lighter parts, our community service officer made the exact same argument, that my little joy buzzer could have been used to detonate explosives, when I most certainly didn't have any available, and had I wanted to, could have done so far more easily with the model rocketry kits I had at home. It's just a bad argument.

The problem was and still is, and what makes it a valid argument, is that it actually looks pretty close to a bomb and I believe that was the intention especially considering it's just an alarm clock guts stuck into a metal pencil box for what purpose? Zero tolerance is stupid and luckily this kid didn't suffer that fate, Texas law on hoax bombs is pretty vague and broad too. I really don't think this had anything to do at all with racism, Irving is one of the more diverse places in the country and with a large Muslim population. It's just an invented narrative and bizarre mascot used by cultural leftists.
Whether or not he was actually showing off his electronics project or trying to bait people to support him for intolerance, the school did the right thing investigating what he made. You have a clock stuffed in a small case with wires sticking out, that's going make people nervous. And the hammer will go down on the people that ignore something that looks like a bomb and turns out to BE a bomb.
Arresting him and sending him to juvie to be fingerprinted and have his mugshot taken was excessive. He claimed it was a clock while being interrogated, the police knew it wasn't a bomb, he didn't make any comments indicating it was a bomb or a hoax bomb while at school, so they didn't need to book him like a criminal.
