No, you can't buy beer in grocery in Ontario. Ontario is part of Canada but not the entire country of Canada.

No, you can't buy beer in grocery in Ontario. Ontario is part of Canada but not the entire country of Canada.
Okay, gotcha. If Trump becomes President, I will be seriously thinking about crossing the border into your country illegally with my family, though if I couldn't buy beer at any store, I might be hesitant.

That's right. You can in Quebec, but in most provinces you have to go to a proper liquor store, and in most cases they're run by the provincial government. In Alberta our liquor stores are privatized, but they're still regulated somewhat heavily by the AGLC. There are a small number of gas stations in the middle of nowhere that are allowed to sell liquor, but only if they're 15km away from the nearest liquor store, and they don't give out licenses for them anymore.

It's just that they don't give out licenses for convenience stores to sell liquor anymore.
