Why would anyone regret bringing a gun, to a knife fight? Just curious.....

I can certainly see why someone would regret bringing a KNIFE to a GUN fight, but.....

He must have had a dyslexic moment and meant "knife to a gun fight".

Nope...

... QED...

Yes. But....

I see some jackass managed to derail this thread when he started posting irrelevant images and videos.

oh, wait... that was me...

Anyway, NASA recently made a small overview over various Star Trek technologies and concluded that many are not only feasible, but already invented...

The Jedi were The Knights Templar.

In the Star Wars universe, assuming that mystics lead republican armies, what is the social cause of rebels. Is it religious.

Star Wars isn't science fiction. It's a fantasy story set in space, so scientific accuracy is irrelevant. Comparing Star Wars to Star Trek is like comparing Star Trek to LOTR.

As they both have a federation of planets, representation via delegate, alliances, and states of war, they are intended to portray social realities and philosophy, as their central plots.

But, I agree that Star Trek appears to have been better-researched, in terms of technology. You can go study all their obscure terms, and background themes, and it appears to be a logical continuation of present research, now taking place in the real world.

Star Wars technologies are usually more fantastical.

So, it's a question of what is more entertaining --
a robotic vehicle which walks like a four legged animal, or an obscure reference to relativity
panspermia creating analogous, hominids across the galaxy, or squid people
weapons which harness electromagnetism, or which channel, elegantly, the Force of life.

Yes. Star Wars is more akin to the Wizard of Oz than to Star Trek.

Star Trek is secular and natural. There are no spiritual or supernatural factors in the story. The only Force is what is generated by the di-lithium crystals.

I HATE flame wars.

All this arguing over two franchises that are NOT REAL. The stories are fake. The characters are fake. Everything in is is fake. Get over it.

I couldn't care less, well actually I do care because it reminds me why the whole planet is a mess and most people are morons who cannot co-exist over such trivial thing. It's absolutely stupid that people are ready to kill each over which they think is better. It's almost as pointless and stupid as whatever reasons we have real wars.

Star Trek is closer to "true" sci-fi than Star Wars, which is basically a hybrid of fantasy and sci-fi. Even though I'm not a huge fan of either franchise, I find Star Wars' lore to be easier to get into, and I think it would be cool as hell to have force powers. I'd be what they call a "dark Jedi"; someone with force powers who doesn't actually operate as a Jedi or a Sith, they just use their powers however they feel like it. Of course, since George Lucas completely retconned the "extended universe", I'm not sure if dark Jedi are a thing in the lore anymore. But whatever, George Lucas has a history of ruining things. He's the reason it's basically impossible to watch the original trilogy in an unaltered state nowadays, unless you're lucky enough to own a Laserdisc player.

Whoa, I'm more of a SW geek than I thought. O_O
