C. Rufus is allegedly an older cross between C.Lupus Lycaon and C. Latrans. Still though, bad move on Norways' part.

Then we should encourage wolves and big cats to roam cities and get used to feeding on sick, weak and stupid humans. Hint: they're usually called "people with disabilities" these days. Strong and healthy humans wouldn't have anything to fear—truth fears no trial.

On the other hand, the deer overpopulation would just as easily be solved by hunting them more and taking over more of their habitat for farming. Humans have just bridled their own predation too much.

The Death Race would be used in large cities to control population.Mostly people looking at their cell phone would get run over.
We have hunters here, lots of them.Fish& Game put limits on what you can harvest. They should have more Doe hunts to control the population. Most of this area isn't farmland, too steep and rocky.Anyway deer like farmland also, they just love to eat at a garden to the ground.Right now they are trying to eridacate deer in the zone that seems to be hit the hardest.Chronic wasting is similar to Mad Cow.People are being told to not eat any deer that appear to be sick, don't discard the carcass on the woods, and to be careful to not get any brains or nervous system tissue on you, bring any sick dead deer in to be tested.

They could just compensate farmers for any livestock lost by wolves. The farmers could also use sheepdogs to guard their flocks, like people did in the old days.

The farmers are well compensated. The sheep graze in the countryside, somewhere without fences.
Anualy ca 120.000 sheep dies in the wild, only 1680 of them were killed by wolves(2015).
The debate between wolf v.s sheep has been going on in Norway for many decades, and at the moment most of the political parties support sheep farmers and hunters.

That does seem to be a more humane option, and perhaps allow for farmers to kill a wolf if it attacks, to save their livestock or them-self for that matter but going out to hunt a specific amount of them does seem screwed up.
