I'm wondering FROM what he's thinking it should be changed----and, TO what, it should be changed.

"The civilized world must change thinking!" Trump
It is a somewhat disturbing statement to me. I'm not sure why. I think I am interpreting him to say that the western world should become more aggressive towards I.S. I think it can only lead to a militarization of society similar to that of Israel. I.S. has too many heads to ever cut them all off.

I'm sorry, but I think the political analysis in this article is very poor. They are comparing apples and oranges, and it's wishful thinking. There are political situations that are very stable, and ones that are very volatile, where one action can cause a series of events that spiral out of control.

Note that the Italian assassin was not an Italian nationalist, but an anarchist. That matters, because most people would be aware that most Italians at the time were not anarchists, whereas a lot of people would consider Gavrilo Princip a representative Serbian nationalist - after all, Serbs had been working towards independence for centuries.

I could go on. The point is that every situation is different. I don't think this one will start a world war, because Putin doesn't want it, and he has enough control over his regime that he can decide that. Did you notice how quick he was to diffuse the situation?

I agree. If Putin wanted to make an issue of this he easily could. He obviously has an interest in warm relations with Turkey. The assassin will probably be found to have been mentally ill.

Or inspired by Gulen, always handy as a fall guy.

Some of Putin's supporters in the Duma are implying the west is somehow responsible for the assassination.

Ah. And here internal politics come into play. It's absurd, considering that NATO is not spoiling for a fight with Russia. But it will probably be accepted as a valid suspicion by a lot of people.
