I agree with what you are saying. Personally I'm usually oblivious to how others look. But my mind tends to think ahead talking about a subject like this and ponder what ifs.

What if a kid just wanted to wear a speedo to school.

a speedo might be problematic, especially with adolescents. long hair and gang attire are at the edge of suitability for school.

Blatant gang attire should be banned.

I'm surprised about the long hair. I would have been more concerned about buzz cuts.

Schools here don't allow t-shirts that have tobacco,alcohol,drugs or sexual messages.They used to have a hair policy,you couldn't have hair dyed an unusual color.My daughter flaunted this by dying her hair pink on the last day of school.
Back in the day when I went you couldn't wear shorts or tank tops.
My son wore his hair to school bundled in little tassels one day,the teachers threw a hissy fit and threatened to quit.Im serious.They said he was distracting students.It was silly,I saw kids wearing hair like this when I was in school.The only difference was he was wearing a Black hair style in a predominantly white school.

Not surprised by this since I live in Texas. The rednecks here tend to think long hair is "kaweer" (How they prounce 'queer') and makes you a hippie.

up here the rednecks have pigshave haircuts, is it like that down there still?
