Every wannabe totalitarian does away with free speech in order to become a full fledged totalitarian, and will use the pretext of public safety to do it. Trump's plans aren't at all surprising.

Starts with labelling "all" criticism as "fake news" and now culminates in shutting down the media

Looks like he's following the program

Didn't everything Trump label "fake news" turn out to be exactly that? Like the whole CNN witch hunt about Russia that they were secretly recorded admitting was lies?

In a word: no.
Just because one guy at CNN got out-of-hand with his Trump research hardly means all of CNN is guilty of such. And if anything, it's to CNN's credit that they admitted such a f*ck up, even before anyone took notice of it. How many times do Breitbart or Fox admit it when they get caught in a lie?

Really this thread is just one in a long series of "Trump is the next Hitler" propaganda. That's what most of these boil down to.

Just another spin on the same theme. Some of the comments and jargon being used are like experiencing deja vu.

I didn't say Trump is the next Hitler; just that democracy is endangered by him.

The whole anti-Trump speech is just as bad.

I didn't say you said anything. However full fledged totalitarian leader is mighty close to the mark. But I'm mainly referring to the overall all over the place 24/7 Trump is Hitler and his supporters are nazis approach.

Verifiably true, you actually said he wants to be the next Kim Jong-something.

Kim Jong-Un takes father's title of Dear Leader
North Korean media has recently started referring to leader Kim Jong-un as the "dear leader," a title previously bestowed on North Korea leader Kim Jong-il, left, with his son Kim Jong-un

Kim Jong-un has adopted the title "Dear Leader" that was previously affected by his father as the North Korean propaganda machine builds up the cult of personality around the young dictator.
State-run media has begun to pepper its reports of Kim's activities with the title, with the Rodong Sinmun daily recently showing a picture on its front page of a banner declaring "Dear Leader Kim Jong-un."

You might call it being toxic, others might call it pointing out people's BS.

I wonder if anyone else sees the irony in you trying to shame me into silence....

Trying to shame people into silence is not uncommon here.
I've been called "toxic" a few times and take it as a compliment, given the accusers. In fact, I end my rebuttal with something like "Yours truly, The Toxin". It could be considered a taunt, and maybe it is a little, but to me it's me telling them that their attempt to silence me aint workin'.
Same for being called a troll or a bully, too.

There have been a few who have tried to get the kid to shut up. I'm still posting, they're not.

No, I said one of their people had overstepped his bounds. They had owed up to a mistake, unlike Fox or Breitbart.
