Maybe Canadians will have to come & burn your white house down again? :P

and turn it into the "black house" like how Yeltsin did the Russian Parliament building.

Don't know, but I can't knit (Madame DeFarge).

One possible ray of hope is actually in our own history - the McCarthy era - he was ultimately defeated by an Army lawyer, if I remember correctly, calling him out ("have you no sense of decency, sir?" I think that was an Army lawyer... crap, what was his NAME?) - and the free press. Today, our 4th estate is coming to its senses finally, but possibly too late, and it's corporate owned, which really ---s things up.

The Joint Chiefs have put up a fairly solid and intransigent resistance to egregious stupidity - trans folk are able to enlist. Is there hope? God, I hope so.

That's where Mueller was supposed to come in, but he's a civilian Fed, and they're far too vulnerable now. Not sure where the Armed Forces would be able to intervene unless they come under direct threat (McCarthy's march on Moscow, that was).

We may end up having SAGs (States Attorneys General) do what Welch did. We do have some remarkable ones - Maryland, New York, Massachusetts, California to list a few. Wouldn't it be something if the United States owes its preservation to united states.

Spain did, but they had to wait till their fascist dictator, Franco, kicked the bucket.

the difference here is that corruption has metastasized up and down our society. no radiation or chemo can fix this cancer. the question is, are there enough good cells left to overcome this cancer?

I'm afraid of what the answer may ultimately be.

when the cancer wins, I wonder if it has the insight to know that, since it is a cancer, it will eventually turn on itself and start eating itself alive, and then like a black hole of evil, will eventually just evaporate leaving nothing but futility. "...Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide. It is in vain to say that democracy is less vain, less proud, less selfish, less ambitious, or less avaricious than aristocracy or monarchy. It is not true, in fact, and nowhere appears in history. Those passions are the same in all men, under all forms of simple government, and when unchecked, produce the same effects of fraud, violence, and cruelty. When clear prospects are opened before vanity, pride, avarice, or ambition, for their easy gratification, it is hard for the most considerate philosophers and the most conscientious moralists to resist the temptation.” [John Adams]

The Army liked McCarthy about as much as the Army likes Trump now.

The military establishment thinks that Trump is a dangerous loose cannon.

we had a coup at least once [JFK], I wonder what the chances are of it happening again, somehow?

I certainly hope not.

That would besmirch our 241-year-old perfect record of no coups!

We have to be above all that. The fact that we are---is a sure sign of our greatness.

Luckily the worst cancer of all was cut out of politics last year when she lost the election. It just defies belief that people sat in silence as Obama, Bush and Clinton had Nazi like foreign policies but suddenly they are upset because the media wants them to be.

The thing is, the cancer in the body politic has no idea that it's cancer. But because it eats and consumes at the expense of everyone else, it's written it's own eventual death warrant.

It's kinda looking like Mueller's team is so biased, people other than Trump are going to start demanding they be dismissed. The way I'm picking up on it, it's like Mueller might as well have chosen Hillary and the DNC for his team, because their bias is so blatant. Guess maybe he's not all that shrewd after all.
