If nature were the only force in their lives, they would probably be fine. Being homeless and forced to navigate modern society is what creates the problem.

Actually, there is no homelessness without industrialized society—people just made huts in the past. Hunted, gathered, grew stuff for food, collected their own water, went naked if weather permitted or used animal skins for clothing. You can't do that stuff in modern society, so homeless people are prevented from living by the structure of society itself.

We've seen this before ...

The Oakland, California "ghost ship" home that burned down.

It was also a home for transients.

It also had fire code violations.

Later, thinking about the deaths, people were like, "why didn't the government do something?".

What does people living and partying in a cluttered warehouse have to do with someone letting people sleep in his house?

the dirty little secret, is that the homeless' existence is deliberately maintained because they serve as a convenient scapegoat for the upper working class/lower middle-class, as well as a punitive example of what can happen to the rest of us 99%ers who fail to keep our collective noses to the capitalists' grindstone. the self-righteous types who say "I would never fall to that level" or "I worked my way up from working class" are just a few paychecks away from the street themselves, for the most part.

I thought I made that clear.

-Both housed homeless people.
-Both were cited for fire code violations.

Carbon Monoxide violation
City spokesperson:"While we appreciate those who volunteer to provide additional resources in the community, Mr. Schiller's house does not comply with codes and regulations that guard against potential dangers such as carbon monoxide poisoning, inadequate light and ventilation, and insufficient exits in the event of a fire," Center said.

My mom proudly tells me of when she drove me to downtown Detroit and pointed out a bum, and said: "See what happens if you don't get an education!".

I thought I illustrated your point.

People blame the bum.

The bum serves as an example of "someone who failed at being productive".

So, be productive, "keep your nose on the capitalists' grindstone" or end up like a bum.

We should probably just ignore SH90 at this point. He has made it very clear that he can't stand people who discuss the racism in American society ... and yet he is okay with a system that lets innocent people die.

This seems to be common among political extremists in general. In Stalinist Russia, criticising Joseph Stalin was considered morally reprehensible, whereas sending people to gulags was okay. In the Republican Party, killing foreigners and letting poor people die is okay ... but it's not okay to discuss the racism that exist in American society.

A lot of people would call this an example of horseshoe theory, but I disagree. Stalin was flamingly nationalistic and anti-LGBT. He placed himself on the political far-left, but, in practice, he didn't live up to leftist principles.

What’s with all the hate of the 1%? An household income of only $250,000, a group that is mostly older in a high cost of living state... Really are just in the upper end of middle class. A little hatred, or jealousy to the .1% I can see. What income do we draw the line, $100,000?
