President

You took that as a personal attack? Um...
You expressed that: worrying over hate crimes and discrimination against minorities is over-reacting and that in actuality it isn't as big a problem as over-reacting minorities make it out to be. Tell me I'm wrong.
Also, calling you a "loyalist" and a "Good German" isn't an "attack" - it's what you are. Both of these groups believe in obeying the leader no matter what their personal opinions of the leader are because that person is their leader and therefore must be respected. I may be wrong, but that's the same exact ideology that you hold - honor the leader no matter what. Also I noted maybe a Good German - not a definite, I just don't know how far your definite loyalist ideology can stretch.
If you're not a loyalist, why are you okay with people being against King George and not okay with them being against other leaders? King George was, after all, the king and "rightful" ruler of America.
Also, calling you an "apologist" is again correct since you believe radical right-wingers and radical left-wingers are the same; when in actuality right-wingers cause the most domestic terrorism attacks statistically and most hate crimes are targeted against minorities. Trying to make them appear as though they're equal is the same that Trump did after Charlottesville and got called out for it by even other Republicans in office. Definition of apologist: a person who offers an argument in defense of something controversial.

We saw that kind of widespread behavior with supporters of Obama. You're correct, that being a "loyalist" or in your words, a "Good German" (I'm not familiar with that term) transcends party lines most definitely.

Spooky_Mulder you proved my point very well. Thank you.
Actually you furthered mine by just showing a lack of knowledge about basic political terms and history.
Die hard Obama and Die Hard Trump supporters are neither loyalists nor Good Germans.
Here's a history lesson:
Loyalists were against the American Revolution because they were against people attacking their leader no matter how people viewed him. This is because they yearned to maintain the status quo and claimed to take no sides, they just wanted neither sides fighting. In the American Revolution, they were neither the Americans nor the British. Loyalist way would lead to no United States.
Similarly, the Good Germans during Hitler's reign of terror were against people attacking Hitler no matter how people viewed him. This is because they yearned to maintain the status quo and claimed to take no sides, they just wanted neither sides fighting. In Nazi Germany, they were neither the Resistance or the allies nor the Nazis. Good German way allowed Nazis to prosper easier.
If you want to call Die Hard fan's of anything something it wouldn't be loyalists or Good Germans, because both have taken a side and want the status quo changed. Apathy - one of the most destructive forces and usually those who do it think it's in the best interest historically.
School's out.
As said, if you don't have loyalist ideology - if you would be for people attacking America's King - why are you for that and not for criticizing the President of either party? It's what the United States is rooted in.

My question here is why do people have to take every opportunity to bash the president? This transcends both party lines. Happened to Obama and now Trump. And only seems to be getting worse. If I post a thread about worm farming in Maine someone would bring up Trump and how bad he is. Why?
I think it's the similar to ...why does this get produced ....
there are people out there that will eat it up

It's a primate-brain thing. Politics makes some people literally insane.
(P.S.: Don't you realize that Trump's global warming policies are going to destroy the worm farming industry in Maine and millions of Maine children will starve to death?? What kind of child-murdering Hitler-monster are you??????)

Science has proven that right-wingers, Trump supporters, have an enlarged amygdala which explains why they are so afraid of "the other" - or everyone who isn't a white/straight/cis/Christian.
Quote:
The amygdala is an almond-shaped structure deep in the brain that is active during states of fear and anxiety. Liberals had more gray matter at least in the anterior cingulate cortex, a region of the brain that helps people cope with complexity.
The conservative party is big on national defense and magnifies our perception of threat, whether of foreign aggressors, immigrants, terrorists, or invading ideologies like Communism. To a conservative, the world really is a frightening place.

This also explains why they're big on conspiracy theories - Hollywood, the fourth estate, academia, social media platforms, FBI, scientists, and more (OMG!) are all working together to bring them down as part of a big government plot!
Wijogr wrote:
Spooky-mulder does that amygdala conspiracy of yours include The X-Files? Have you had yours checked lately?
The X-Files is a TV show. But, believing that everyone and every single institution in the world is part of some big vast government conspiracy is paranoid delusions no matter which political side does it (although it is found most often among the right due to, as said, brain science - so can't fault them on it, it's biology).
Also, I can't tell if you're being sarcastic since there is no "amygdala conspiracy" - it's science. So, unsure if you're saying science is a conspiracy or if you're laughing that many right-wingers believe that science is a conspiracy.

Still missing the point. I’m not a Trump supporter and I wasn’t an Obama supporter. So set that aside. The question was, why does everyone take every opportunity to bash a sitting president and ignore the topic at hand?
Real point - We know Russia messed with the election. We know Russia hacked our social media to affect change. But all I hear is the right saying Hilery gave Russia money and the left saying Trump has his hands in it. Blah blah chatter chatter. When the real issue is that Russia did this. Let’s fix that!
Just one of many things that get ignored while we all fight ourselves.

This is deliberate. The administration is in big trouble over Russia, so they use projection to deflect from the issue. That's where the lie comes in that it was the Dems which colluded with Russia. It's a transparent attempt to change the subject. That Trump attempts distraction is entirely his doing. He deserves criticism for this. We can't get to the core issue due to Trump's obstruction, which is most likely criminal. So, Trump made it all about himself, as usual. The right is full of s**t, as usual.

I just read through the thread about John McCain passing. He was a great man. What I don’t understand is how a lot of what I read was about bashing Trump. Now I didn’t want to post this on that thread because to me, that should be about honoring and remembering McCain.
My question here is why do people have to take every opportunity to bash the president? This transcends both party lines. Happened to Obama and now Trump. And only seems to be getting worse. If I post a thread about worm farming in Maine someone would bring up Trump and how bad he is. Why?

On the particular topic: McCain's passing, you cant complain about this.
We live in polarized times.
Second McCain was a career politician so even in calm times politics is going to intrude into the subject of his life.
Third, and most important, the final chapter of McCain's life and career was all about battling two things: cancer and Trump. Its theoretically possible to eulogize Sherlock Holmes without mentioning the subject of Moriarty, but its pretty damned hard. Hafta really bend over backwards to not mention Moriarty at Holmes' funeral. So ya cant really blame folks. Not only did Trump himself make a habit of bashing McCain but the two represented opposite directions for the GOP. And the nonfeud feud between Trump and McCain continued after McCain died with the flag thing, and with Trump disinvited to the funeral, etc. People are not injecting Trump into the topic at hand. Trump himself injected himself into it.

The President is thought of as the most powerful person in the world that invites jealousy. Everything he does is public and will piss at least somebody off.
As for Trump he is a master troll and bully acting and doing stuff purposely to get the most hysterical counter reaction. Say nothing and you let the bully get his way and he steamrolls you and gets away with more and more, fight back every time and you look as hysterical as him. Either way he wins, we lose.
