That may in fact just be the only good thing about poverty - - not having to suffer the orange buffoon's tweets!

Absolutely
The Federal Emergency Management Agency will soon test delivery of its Wireless Emergency Alert system by sending a "Presidential Alert" message to a majority of cell phone users.
No cell phone = no problem.

So what if you have your phone off? So what happens if you have a phone that is not set up for text messages? So what if you have a landline?

I guess if there is a major event about to happen such as an asteroid impact, then those without cell phones without text message capabilities, with landlines will be in the dark, unaware of the impending disaster.

Then your name goes on a list of people to be rounded up first. Those people will be sent off to secret FEMA camps all over America, where they will be "re-indoctrinated" into acceptable attitudes and behaviors depending on each individual's ethnicity. Then they will be re-released into their former addresses to carry out the Demander-In-Chief's plan of taking America back to the way things were before the 1960 Civil Rights Act, the Civil Rights Movement, and the abolition of government-sanctioned Jim Crow policies.

(See? It's so easy to make this s*** up that anyone with only a little knowledge of history can do it!)

I "owned" an Apple iPhone 8 for exactly 24 hours (immediately after the "Great WrongPlanet.net URL-Redirect Hack") before selling it back to the Apple Store. Despite their lame five-minute "trainings," I couldn't understand how to turn it on, let alone all the other bells and whistles. It was two days of autistic horror with the waiting in lines and waiting for a trainer and signing contracts and waiting to return the item AND the wireless services. No, it was well worth it to just toss it back to whence it came.

And now, I won't be bothered with its siren call in 72 hours!

A "special vibration?" I wonder how this will differ from the ordinary vibrations we are used to on our cell phones.

Likely contains sub-harmonics that interfere with the higher centers of cognition, thus making each person more susceptible to the subliminal messages that Michael "Lizard-Man" Pence has encoded there.

Tell your friends.

No whimpering! No whining! No complaining!

Cringing and groveling, however, are encouraged.

I'm sure I don't need to tell my friends. They're smart! They know this stuff.

Perhaps this "special vibration" will last through the entire alert period. Should I consider positioning my cell phone in my pants pocket to achieve maximum enjoyment and pleasure of this important event?

Protestors might consider removing the battery for the 30 minutes before 2:18 p.m. Eastern Time. Flummox the expectations.

All joking aside, I keep my cell phone turned off a great deal of the time, anyway. I'll definitely make sure it's powered down by 2:00 p.m. EST on Thursday.

If the Trump-Signal is limited to U.S. land masses, what will international visitors think of this charade? If the Trump-Signal is limited to all cellular telephones with known U.S. area codes, how will their owners explain the 30-minute interruption in other nations?

Either way, it appears to me to be an international confusion of embarrassment in waiting.

It would not surprise me if this 'test' somehow crashes at least one cellular provider's system.

That said, I will have my phone switched off for at least 30 minutes starting at quarter-past the hour.

The 'test' is on Thursday, September 20 at:

14:18 ET
13:18 CT
12:18 MT
11:18 PT

"I'll move myself and my family aside,
If we happen to be left half alive!
I'll get all my papers and smile at the sky.
Oh I know that the hypnotized never lie!"

I hadn't thought of that! I was concerned about legitimate emergencies having no way to communicate which, of course, would crash systems.

They've postponed the test until October 3, it appears. We'll have to wait a little longer to see what mayhem occurs.
