Russia’s sinister social media campaign against the U.S.

On those posts are they portraying themselves as your neighbor? No, you know who you're dealing with. That's the difference. Had Russia made posts over here and you knew it was the Russians, no problem, you know who you're dealing with. The issue here is that Russia was running millions of ads that appeared to be American in nature but were not- i.e. lying to gain an advantage. Take Obama making a pitch for Macron in the French election, yeah he was peddling his influence there, but he wasn't calling himself Pierre, shouting "Viva le resistance!" after every sentence to make it appear he was a Frenchman-- they knew exactly who he was, it was open and transparent.
A lot of times, like here for instance, I have no idea where someone posting political rhetoric is from. They either don't have a location on their profile or they have a fictional location. It seems likely that some who have come and gone were perceived as being American when they were not. That's most likely the case throughout social media.
Also is it your contention that all those posting anti-Trump rhetoric and so on as Americans are all definitely Americans? Do you have any sort of data to go by where you can determine those posting anti-Trump material as Americans are actually Americans? And if they are not where they are actually posting from? How many posting as Americans are really from the UK or Canada? 1, 10, 100, 1000, 10000 etc?

You want me to bring up a bunch of profiles? You know perfectly well there are many members who either don't have their location listed or have a fictional location.
Of the moderators, XFilesGeek has no location listed. envirozentinel has "Keshron, Super-Zakhyria" listed. Kiprobalhato has "faraway swimmingpool" listed. Skilpadde has "Alola" listed. thoughtbeast who was posting tons of political material has "Scarlet Jungle of Krypton" listed. Of people in this thread, Taradine has " fold" listed. Magna has no location listed. kokopelli has "amid the sunlight and the dust and the wind" listed.
Is that good enough? And even when it comes to those with realistic locations listed, how do you know that's where the poster is actually from?

Ok, so those are examples of people without locations, good, now have any of them repeatedly messaged you with propaganda over the course of six months, attempting to get you to vote for a specific person relentlessly?
-- see, that's the difference.

Stop peddling these lies.
No lie to assume open media talks to be fluent and accurate sources. If you read about things, as and when they happen like in the case of Russian hacking interpol interfering again and again with elections and social press. The coverage is still a clear and present threat to generations, like our European court jesters in HQ running amok, at our power of a one nation vote kicking them out of our democracy and power all at once.
Laura kussennburg is a person who can't hack it, but who says anyone else can't? What are you going to do when trading carries on under WTO rules, do you say no deal Teresa, lets have a second vote please?
We are leaving and that is a fact. Sorry you don't like the word Leave and even change. About time society had a shake up, it's the twenties and thirty year olds who are going to evoke it. Not the pensioners, who have had enough of the current care system to give them heart strokes to last them all their lives.
In my view, remainers are deeply rooted to zero hour contracts and migrant labour philosophies to give holy orders to a deal to suit all classes. It s middle class and upper class abuse of belittling foreign dictatorship, that has dampened our culture, even though I find it is still being ruled by old fashioned dimwits.
Businesses who are not doing well need to sell up and make a profitable income online to make do. The government certainly can't afford to keep reimbursing Novichok victims of Salisbury as well as greedy DUPs. Maybe they could pay off Sturgeon to shut her out with that. They may even have to offer more money to a new Pm, later down the line due to inefficiency and lines of mistrust.
European leaders are not going to punish superstates when it's our Royal blood, money, toil and crown they want.

None of them have messaged me. However many have replied to me and others in threads with propaganda over the course of months, attempting to get me and others to vote against a specific person relentlessly. I don't know if others have been messaged with such. Although it seems certainly possible. I have stated in the past that a lot of what gets posted here is intended to get as many people as possible not to vote for republicans in 2018 and not vote for Trump in 2020. One of the most prolific of those only posted a couple of months in 2016 and again in 2018 and is expected to suddenly reappear in 2020.
There are millions of people outside the US posting about US politics throughout social media who obviously have an agenda. Of of those millions, it seems likely many have fake locations listed as they do here and are presumed to be Americans when they are not. Of those millions, only those from Russia are being scrutinized. And most likely it seems to me because they're the ones perceived as pro-trump. I think if they were perceived as anti-trump, it wouldn't be an issue.

Aside from perhaps the poster you're mentioning that pops up and goes away during election cycles, the others are not foreign agents (probably not him/her either), and I'll tell you why. Economics. WP is a niche site with a small viewership, and posting is time consuming compared to sites such as Facebook, Instagram, etc, where it's a single click, no captcha, no server going down every 4 hours for unexplained reasons, etc. It makes no economic sense to invest what ends up being a lot of resources for a small viewer base, if you're going to run an influence campaign as a nation-state you're going to want to go to where the most people are to maximize the money you're putting into it, and that's not WP, sorry. I know we all love it, but it's too niche to be targeted. I mean, if you've got 500 bucks to hire an influencer, are you going to put him on a site that at any given time maybe has 100 people online (and that's really stretching it), or go to Facebook where there are 100's of millions? Where do you think your dollar has the most impact?

Of course WP is an obscure site. I've said so many times. I posted that I wondered what the guy flooding the forum was trying to accomplish considering how few people were reading his posts.
However I think what's posted here and by whom, can be used as a sampling of what goes on elsewhere throughout social media.
Mainly the point I was trying to make is that they aren't foreign agents. Just people from other countries who have an agenda regarding US politics. I think the same likely applies for the most part across all of social media. That the millions of people from other counties on social media cranking out partisan propaganda are most likely not government agents. They might belong to some group or even an organization, but are not foreign government agents working in some secret building or whatever. There are millions of people and groups and organizations in other counties, including Russia, who are perfectly willing and able to post US political propaganda, without being foreign government agents.

There are millions of people in Europe, Canada, Australia etc weighing in on American politics throughout social media who don't work for the government. Likewise there are plenty of people in Russia doing the same who don't work for the government. I've seen many highly emotionally charged claims that Russia is out to hurt the United States, but I have not seen any evidence of it occurring post cold war.
There's more than enough evidence of Putin putting his intelligence skills to work with his bot farms in order to alter the political landscape in not just America, but also in Ukraine and western Europe.

But like I said he's not the only one. There are millions of people in other countries wanting to alter the current political landscape via the internet. Even here in this tiny corner of the internet I see them at work. It's just a fact of life that millions of foreign entities post agenda driven political propaganda to the internet. There are hundreds of people all over the world who have the intelligence skills to create bot farms. Maybe even more so than a senior citizen who was a spy back in the 80's.

But in a totalitarian state like Russia you can bet that few if any can operate a bot farm like Putin can.

Robert Mueller has a ton of that sh*t compiled. And yes, it will come out.
