I tried to date a girl as an undergraduate in Western PA, who, after she transferred from IUP to Eastman, held the Monkees as one of her influences (she was a flautist turned percussionist and played in a few all-girl punk groups in NYC and gained prominence for Dinobone. Last I heard, she and her husband were living in Spotsylvania County, VA. She is still teaching in the Spotsylvania County Schools. She, and Bob Shontz, of Rosenshontz (and Bob’s sister, Marilyn, was my academic advisor in the library science program at Shippensburg University of PA) were responsible for the kiddie singalongs in the 1980’s and 1990’s.

As an aside, the Monkees and the Partridge Family were the only rock groups allowed in the household while I was growing up. Country and Western (ugh!) and Nat King Cole (who was a jazz crossover into pop) were the only music allowed in the household growing up (which is why, to this day, I can’t stomach what passes for country and western music, with the exception of bluegrass, and then only in small amounts).

I thought love was only true in fairy tales
Meant for someone else but not for me
Love was out to get me
That's the way it seemed
Disappointment haunted all my dreams

RIP Peter

I would like to know your source, this is the best I could find.

It is a Peter Tork fan webpage that reprints old interviews
Quote:
Tork of the town - Yorkshire Evening Post
By Neil Hudson
June 4, 2008

Peter, who has two grown-up children and a 10-year-old son, reckons that he is has always been as much at home backstage, as out front.

"I suppose I am a bit of a techie at heart," he said. "But one thing I have discovered in recent years is that I suffer from Asperger's syndrome - a form of autism.

"There is a fanaticism and obsessiveness about me and my actions that appear to bear this out."

It was something on Yahoo News about celebrities who haven't let autism slow them down.
