Some white people do hate other white people for the centuries of oppression that they have commited against people of color (and it still goes on to this day though not as bad), and some white liberal types simply want everyone to be treated fairly, white or colored. But either way it's all born from the realization that we are all human and nobody has the right to judge or oppress somebody else based on their skin color.
If you don't want these people to think "all white people are the same" then work towards proving them wrong instead of trying to deflect these accusations.

It never occurred to me to try and overcome something by squishing it down. It does occur to me to try and overcome something by raising myself up. You can't win at hurdles by insisting the sport lower the bar for you. Or, if you consider lowering the bar a genuine win, maybe you can. It's all in the make up, I guess.
