I have a problem with this----but, I ALWAYS have a problem with them "turning people different colors". I had a fit when, on the first Harry Potter movie, they made Angelina, white----it makes me nuts when Hollywood is not true to characters.

I've seen this girl, she's BEYOND beautiful----but, c'mon, Ariel with black hair, YIKES!!

Maybe it's just an Aspie not liking change.....

People committed suicide over Heaven's Gate? I know it was a terrible movie that flopped but sheesh.

There was some cult, about 20 years ago or so, that claimed that the "Hale Bopp" comet would take them into space---and, hence, into "paradise."

A suicide cult---like Jim Jones and the Kool-Aid.

No. There was a religious cult called "Heaven's Gate" that believed in an invisible spaceship following closely behind comet Hale-Bopp that would collect their souls and take them away to some kind of paradise. Nearly all of its members committed mass suicide.

It was all over the news.

Well I knew such minutia without looking it up that one of members was the brother of the actress that played Uhura, so now you know.

I still love Disney, but I don't *like* it much right now because of this live-action "trend".

Maybe I'll make a cartoon where Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy are all played by realistic animals. And then Goofy (played by a realistic dog), is unable to keep his natural instincts under control and viciously attacks Donald, and Mickey runs off and gives everyone the plague or something because I don't know.

I'm no fan of Disney because of their dominance of the entertainment industry and their influence on the news.

Every aspect of The Media is feeling the effects of Disneyfication.

I don't with this kinda stuff but I do with historical stuff.

Also if they want to be PC and not annoy me all they need to do is hire more Romani actors in non-stereotypical roles. Or if it's 19th century, more Indian ones, even black African ones. But I don't think 19th century London was full of black people with Cockney accents.

They also don't mention it. If they mentioned it and gave a reason I would be ok.

It's just me being a pedant. Which is why it doesn't bother me when it's a movie about a mermaid, so much is different to the real world already.

I wish Disney would quit the live action remakes and make some African fairy tales and some more Asian ones etc. So there was diversity but still new stories and cartoons.

It is somewhat amusing to see Hollywood and Disney hoist with its own identity politics petard.

So, did we all just...like, forget about that time Disney made a live-action adaptation of "Cinderella" in the '90s with Brandy and Whitney Houston? The one that was a huge ratings smash and earned seven Emmy nominations? Anybody...? Anybody...?

And who says race relations are worse now?

...That was a remake of the Rogers & Hammerstein Cinderella, which had had previous versions with Julie Andrews and Lesley Anne Warren, I believe. Was it made by Disney?

Yep, it was made for ABC's "The Wonderful World of Disney". I'm aware that the story of Cinderella has existed long before the Mouse; in that case, I could also name the 1978 movie 'Cindy', which was a modern-day re-telling of Cinderella with an all-black cast. Color-blind casting is nothing new.

These type of people love to project. They love to call people who are trying to create some sort of decency in this country snowflakes, but they're the biggest snowflakes of them all.
