In your opinion what was the deciding factor in the result

1. Desire to get Brexit done and over with already
2. Corbyn is thought of as too radically left
3. Charges of Corbyn and Labour anti semitism
4. Corbyn’s persona
5. Russian meddling
6. Other

Does it portend anything about how the American 2020 election will go?

We don't all want to hang Torys off the nearest lamp post. There's hatred on both sides.

people? I have only seen 1 person suggest that on here. Who are the others?

These. It was a very disappointing result for me too.

From what people are saying on the telly it looks like it's mostly points one, two and four. I always wonder if Corbyn has autism and that's why people find him so unrelatable.

UK and US politics have often mirrored each other in the past, doesn't look like it's ready to swing back yet.

While not a British citizen, how can half of your fellow countrymen and women all be devolved?

It seems to me that in both US and UK there is a resentment against voters who do not abandon their own interests, in favor of those less fortunate. I am supportive of those in need of disability benefits. I have often mentioned my one little granddaughter who is autistic. She is six and receives $800/mo in disability. That began when the Liberals were in power and remains while the Conservatives are in power. She gets Medicaid, etc... I don't see how my vote for Trump has harmed her.

This is how the current UK system appears to me, an outsider: If the UK doesn't overhaul the NHS and stop allowing so many to take advantage of those services (open borders), they are going to run out of money. They have overloaded the system with too many people and the plan is always tax, or revenue generated by EU participation. When the land mass isn't getting any bigger, the hospitals aren't getting any bigger, the providers are not superhuman can't handle the unlimited need, even if they had the money. There are more people swamping the UK, stressing the system further while putting nothing back into the economy, only taking from it. So, in essence the average UK citizen lives to put a roof over their heads, eat and know that they can be treated within 3-6 months if they get cancer of the butthole (which isn't all that great a time frame to begin with). Forgive me for being so unevolved, that's not my idea of life. I would argue that half of the UK population has lowered the bar so much, they see the hope for something more or better than mere survival as selfish. Just how an outsider views it...

EU migrants are on average a net fiscal benefit to the UK and contribute more to the economy than the average British adult

Okay, then keep the migrants and throw out the citizens. Either way, something's gotta give. You've got too many kids living in a studio apartment.

Sweden is the only country worth emulating.

4. Corbyn is primarily an agitator, that is where his true passion lies. He's stubborn and too lofty to get into the fray and just signals to the far left instead. He did nothing dynamic to grab the attention of the press at the start of his leadership, while Johnson on the other hand courts their attention every other day. He turned up at the Cenotaph remembrace service in a tawdry anorak and stood their looking po faced, and there we have the measure of him, he belongs on a CND stall at an 80s rally. He's cold war era.

For the record I would been thrilled had he won.

You'd need to tackle the Religious fanatics on that one. I agree, btw.

If I were a UK person, I wouldn't like it if we had a "hard Brexit."

I would hate having to wait on long lines (queues) at Passport Control!

Boris Johnson is similar to Trump----in that they are both clown-types.

Yes many of us will no doubt apply for EU passports. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/sep/07/please-ireland-help-sort-out-my-eu-membership

Yes, I worry about the Irish border also.

And in general about the increased instability...South Ireland leaves, Scotland leaves, England not united, as it were, with the European continent.

Would the UK honor a EU passport from a UK citizen after Brexit?

Sure, we're allowed more than one passport. It would make sense to use the UK passport at a UK border and the EU passport at EU borders. Its possible to travel with both.
