Here is a list from the US EPA. It includes some other options like citric acid, peroxide, glycolic acid and others. I am going to start a thread in the Science topic so people can start listing different ideas, the EPA list is pretty extensive but not all inclusive.

Some of those listed are carcinogens and shouldn't be handled by common folk unless they have gloves, facemasks and a fume cupboard. Of course it depends on the concentration of the product they obtain and the purity.

I got the thread started in CS&M, I tried to call the EPA, they didn't have any further info really, but they told me they advised against trying to make your own when I attempted to ask specifically about things like percentages, etc.

I wouldn't hold your breath....the US EPA (like our Australian EPA) don't want law suits because they were advising the public on how to make home made cleaners

I understand the not wanting lawsuits, but I am saying that since almost all conventional cleaning supplies are off limits, then trying to come up with other ideas is a necessity. I started the thread as I said I would and so far have only gotten replies explaining the danger of mixing things with bleach.

I did see things like citric acid on the EPA list, so have to question if things like lemon juice would disinfect sufficiently.
