My main issue is that Capitol Hill, the pinnacle of Seattle culture, has been closed off to all who don’t already live in that neighborhood—many of whom have already been shut out because of all the pandemic-related cancellations and the exorbitant costs of living.

So how long until the Freikorps show up with their red hats and confederate flags? Who knows, maybe history won't repeat itself this time.

Who is going to pay the mercenaries,I don't think the Alt-Right out in Spokane has the funds for that, unless the Phinius priesthood is going to get back into bank robbery :D

Armed paramilitary conservatives murdering leftists fighting to rectify injustice? Leftists trying to further democracy? Perish the thought. It's a good thing the Freikorps never killed those anti-WWI left revolutionaries, otherwise we could have had a conservative reactionary German regime. Hey wait a minute...
Well, let's just take solace in the old adage: It can't happen here. Thankfully, America is immune to paramilitary nationalists going around terrorizing leftists and racial minorities. America is also completely immune to such right-wingers infiltrating the nation's police forces en masse:

Seems like a dangerous situation. They must have a lot of faith in the tolerance of the mayor and governor. If a right wing group tried to take the area back, I think the police might be slow to respond. And hopefully Trump doesn't do something unconstitutional.

Trump is having people killed for exercising their rights, unless those rights are gun rights & OP still plays the victim having his guns stolen.

In Seattle? It's a city people move to to get *away* from the hard-righters.

Opposed to the left wing group who’s taken it from the people who live there?
I’d imagine more that right wing groups will do the same and seize areas as independent nations. Where then the democrat leaders can either do nothing or further show they hypocrites.

This isn’t a protest it’s a rebellion. Democrats also supported the last rebellion. But after their first rebellion the courts ruled future successions illegal. It is funny to watch the left have a moral meltdown. I remember Bundy ranch and the left was all against it. People can’t take up arms against the government they said. Mind you that situation and the one in my state we’re trying to secede from the USA, but merely make a stand against further government overreach. The left calls them terrorist they call pro gun people protesting at capitals terrorist. It when a group of people march into an area, put up barricades and claim they own the place and are seceded from the USA they called patriotic. O.o
Rest assured if it was a group of maga hat wearing who did this they’d be called terrorist and the police would move in guns shooting.

If the police or anyone else for thst matter tries to go in the army of this new independent nation will shoot them.

The double standard is real.

 No doubt! You can say that again!

These people are exercising their rights to freedom of speech, to protest, and to bear arms. All things you actively promote on these forums.. unless, of course, those Americans exercising these rights happen to not be aligned with your particular political ideology, then they should be punished by the law or shot or whatever nonsense you’re suggesting.

Police should be neutral and implement and enforce the law with no ulterior motives.

If the official Police don't follow that code, they shouldn't be Police.

If the replacement, local law enforcement don't do that either, they aren't Police they're a militia.

Basically Police legitimacy depends almost entirely on fair interpretation and enforcement of the law.

Any sign of corruption or bias, your credibility and authority are gone.

So, you understand & support the nationwide protests against police brutality in the USA then?

They’ve seceded from the USA. There no right under current law to do that.
They gone beyond protesting. They’ve seized property they don’t won, taken people hostage.

So I can dlecwre my home independent and not have to pay rent or taxes?
And or enforce it I’ll shot anyone who tries to come on to my street? That’s all fine with you?
I wouldn’t Epcot yiud see the difference between protesting and seceding from the government.
I’d bet 100 dollars if maga people did this yiud be calling them terrorist and calling for police action.
Can the proud boys take over Portland and delacre it independent ?
I already know your answer. You called the pro gun protesters terrorist. If they did what these people are doing. They’d be shot by the police already to the cheers of the left.

Yiud feel differently if a group took over you area and forced you to pay them taxes and show Id to enter or leave the area.

Secession as many on wp pointed out is illegal and treason. Just a few days ago. Now people doing the same thing are heroes.

Also as non citizens by their own accord they have such rights anymore. The bill of rights doesn’t apply to Canadians either. What they are is a armed insurrection against the government much like the Chechen rebels or IRA.

but do go on and define secession. But keep in mind then yiu can’t be against the confederacy on the grounds they couldn’t secede.

While the temporary armed occupation of the Michigan state legislature was very different from this situation both were insurrections that have been tolerated so far with no consequence to the rebels and probably very bad consequences for the rest of us.

Either the United States is going to be run by elected officials or the Devo prediction comes true and we devolve in to fiefdoms.

Michigan was protesting on government public property. No different then any other protest but they were armed since protesting gun control. To compare them to a group who takers over a neighborhood(not even theres) and delacres it seceded from the USA.
They more like the sovereign citizen movement and just as crazy. But even the sovereign citizen mov,ent doesn’t take over who neighborhoods bu gun point.

There’s no democracy inside the new independent nation. It’s brute force rules and you pay their extortion or die. Show them ID or die. Do what they say or die.
Yet they claim to be different then the Abusive police force.
Well guess so. Mean cops just arrest you if you don’t show ID.

If Michigan would been insurection or rebellion they’d shot the cops arrested the governor and hung her in the capital.
A protest with guns is just a protest. I’d wager most the protesters for blm habe knifes and other weapons but they aren’t called armed terrorist.

I wouldn't dare claim to understand every nuance, as I'm not from the USA, but I understand the principles. Police brutality is bad, but if it is replaced by unofficial, localised brutality, that is no better. It's a paper transfer, a change from one shower of s**t to another. Basically the authority of whoever enforces the law is dependent on their fairness and good judgement. So if this is restrained and sensible and responsible, good for them. But if it involves pitchforks, burning torches and trial by drowning, I'm not going to support it. At the moment, I'm happy to wait and see. But then I have the luxury of being 4,665 miles away, so if things are getting tricky right now I'm not the one getting my toes tickled by flames, water or pointy bits.
