Doctors Issue Ominous Coronavirus Warnings About Trump Rally
An argument that the cause of the protesters is so important that it overrides the potential detriment to public health doesn't work. Trump rally attendees clearly feel his cause is so important that it overrides the potential detriment to public health as well. I say this as a person who has never and would never go to a Trump rally.
I agree that the virus doesn’t discriminate.
But while you wouldn’t find me out protesting in a crowd (socially distant mask wearing BLM support protests of thousands of people did happen here downtown Vancouver - but gatherings of 50+ people are still against our health minister’s orders), And while trump’s useful liar Kayleigh McEnany equated the two and says one is justification for the other, I disagree that the protests and trump rallies are equivalent. The protests are viewed as necessary by many for basic civil/human rights & to stop the systemic abuses and murders of African Americans - the other is a completely voluntary entertainment event about on par with WWE where a bunch of like minded folks want to engage in group ego masturbation. Hardly an equivalent reason to gather en masse.
That's your perception of a Trump rally and you're entitled to it.
You're correct that "The protests are viewed as necessary by many for basic civil/human rights & to stop the systemic abuses and murders of African Americans" I agree.
However, you fail to see that Trump supporters at Trump rallies are entitled to believe that their rights to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" as XFG quoted recently from the Declaration of Independence, are in jeopardy should government continue to encroach on their individual freedom. That's where I think your disconnect is on this subject.
You think Trump supporters who attend rallies are doing so because it's purely entertainment for them. Wrong. It's assumable that many of them believe in Trump and their perception of their freedoms just as strongly as those who believe in BLM. You may think their belief is preposterous. You're entitled to think what you want. In the U.S., at this point anyway and up to this point, they're entitled to believe what they want to believe.
"Our cause is noble and just. I think your cause is delusional. You don't get to assemble for your cause but we get to assemble for ours." It doesn't work that way in the U.S. provided both causes are practiced peacefully.

How can anyone equate these causes?
One is to protest against police brutality, systemic racism, and being murdered for being Black.
The other is in support of a political candidate.
Not the same. At all.
Next up you’ll argue that filling movie theatres to watch the latest blockbuster or stadiums to watch football games are equal causes protected by your twisted explanation of constitutional rights.
Again, this virus doesn’t discriminate & cancellations of mass public gatherings is a matter of public health. All of people’s “wants,” take a back burner to public health realities during the pandemic. Whether you want to support a political candidate, watch a movie or attend a football game - 2020 is cancelled. And note: protests were never scheduled in the first place. These are Americans protesting against Americans being murdered for no good reason. While I won’t risk getting covid for the cause, I understand why some people’s rage justifies their attendance.

I can see how you're confused about American politics since most of the time, politicians offer platitudes designed to appeal on an emotional level to the most voters rather than actually follow through with campaign promises. It's certainly Ok to be an "armchair" arbiter in matters such as these, but whether or not those who believe in BLM protests have higher moral ground than those who believe in the political ideologies of MAGA or whatever you'd call it isn't my point. My point is that in the U.S., if groups are assembling peacefully and one is allowed to assemble sans masks and en masse during the health crisis, the other is allowed to do so as well. Pure and simple. There is no tribunal of righteousness that decides one should be allowed and the other shouldn't.
When you say "the other is in support of a political candidate", you're not seeing the forest for the trees as if political candidates have no meaning or influence other than being at the head of a political campaign and nothing more. Again with the entertainment. You think a Trump rally is akin to the theater or a sporting event (entertainment). We can assume those that attend the rallies are going there for far more than that.
I would do a poor job at playing the devil's advocate by trying to lay out the points of belief as to how the current political climate is jeopardizing life, liberty or the pursuit of happiness according to a Trump supporter and how their quality of life improved during the last 3+ years, but perhaps some others that do believe those things will point out how they believe Trump has protected inalienable rights and conversely how his opposition has jeopardized those rights. If I'm not mistaken, Black and Hispanic unemployment in the last 3+ years was lower that it's ever been, pre-Covid. I think that's a very good thing.
Everyone in the entire country is terrified of being unemployed. You are ignoring the basic facts of that employment scenario.

Black/Hispanic unemployment being low had Zero to do with any special employment programs and everything to do with All unemployment numbers being low at that time.
Idiots gathering 19,000 strong in a stadium, elbow to elbow, with no masks on, have Zero cares in the world about employment prospects improving or they’d do something to mitigate the spread of the virus and help make it safer for people to get back to work and life again vs what they may do, which will have the exact opposite affect when post rally COVID numbers spike.

A few super-spreaders in the audience would certainly help Make America Great Again.

Just a reminder: under international law, an occupying power has no right of self-defense, and those who are occupied have the right and duty to liberate themselves by any means possible.
A few super-spreaders in the audience would certainly help Make America Great Again.
Only problem is they will leave the rally and infect the innocent.

Mostly other deplorables.
Decent people should shun contact with these plague bearers even more than usual.
