Great. I'm so relieved that new viruses are waiting in line. Life would be so boring without them. /s
If G4 infects someone with other viruses, like covid-19, maybe we'll see a new spanish flu; they think the 1918 pandemic started when viruses from a human with fly and a bird with flu infected a pig and became a new disease in the pig cells.
Sigh.

Well the swine flu didn't cause a pandemic like this before so hopefully it won't this time either, and hopefully this is fake news. I've been advised by many people not to believe everything I hear on the internet and to only rely on what they say on the TV news.

I remember that those in Mexico wore masks and people, reportedly with no underlying health conditions still died, like covid 19
Then people were on trials or trying tamiflu ect.
It kind of spread then fizzled out and suddenly all forgotten about, just like zika ect

I do remember that swine flu was killing people, I even remember having panic attacks over it. But there was no lockdown or anything. When I first heard about COVID19 I decided not to waste my time and energy panicking because I thought it will just be like the swine flu was and I thought the media were just scaremongering and that this coronavirus would just fizzle out. Never did I ever expect a huge, economy destroying pandemic that will turn everybody's lives upside down and make most of the things you used to do illegal.
I guess the media scaremongering has kind of backfired, because a lot of people didn't think it was a big deal when COVID was first heard of so nobody got prepared, and suddenly it's all hit us hard and we are basically all gob-smacked at how drastically our lives have changed since 2020 began.

Sadly, the media like to use "scare" stories, emphasising the "worst case" scenario in many cases to try and entice readers/viewers for advertising revenue.
The problem occurs (such as with the current pandemic) when people have reached the point of discounting what the media claims, having seen so many previous catastrophies predicted by the media not occurring.

I'm sorry to hear that. I can't say for certain but that year, i thought i was going to die as i had a terrible flu. I literally felt terrible and passed out on the sofa on christmas day. I understand that, the media can blow things out of proportion or in other ways, not tell us the true extent of things. It is surreal as to what has happened this year. Globally we've struggled financially for many years. We've had our share of natural disasters and epidemic that hit businesses, farms got hit financially from the foot and mouth disease. When this first arrived though, i started wearing face masks before they made it compulsory, before the lockdown. I don't want to be one of those people that claim it doesn't exist or it's scare mongering because people have been on ventilators, people have died globally and this affects even, those that seemingly had no underlying health conditions. Not forgetting this apparently leaves long lasting damage on our lungs and kidneys.

It's gotten to the point where people don't care. I know we shouldn't live in fear, expect the worst but people haven't acknowledged the social distancing rules or lockdown when we should've sooner.
I never thought about dying from the flu till a family here lost their son several years back.He went to the hospital that morning and died that evening.A healthy twenty something young man.Not an old person with other medical conditions. That’s when I started hand sanitizing like crazy. The local hospital was full with people on beds in the hallway.
