Infection via the eyes seems to be considered possible, but not proven yet. If it does happen, I'm guessing it's less likely than by breathing where the particles are actively sucked into the body. Over here, many hospital staff are using plastic full-face visors, because their higher risk of exposure justifies that extra level of precaution. Though I have seen staff wearing them in my local bakery, too! When beauticians are finally allowed back to work, I think it would be a good idea for them to wear eye protection given that they're working directly on people's faces all day. Care home staff should have been using them too- those places have turned out to be absolute plague pits.
