Until the protesters get when they want.

Not sure if you intended to make the "protesters" sound like a bunch of whining children having a tantrum until they get what they want, but it does appear as though that is what is happening.

The protesters are whining children.

As a parent backed by some research, I can tell you what helps with whining children:
- Listening carefully to them, showing epathy and interest in their problems;
- Making clear boundaries and setting limits to their behaviors.
What makes whining children worse:
- Punishments, including verbal abuse, for the very fact of whining;
- Dismissing, ignoring, belittling and other forms of denial;
- Letting them do anything and get anything they want, including unreasonable demands and harming others.

Now, within the whining children model if you prefer it that way, can we discuss what the US society can do about BLM?

Yay for magz!

Criminal investigation launched into use of explosives during riot on Seattle's Capitol Hill Saturday

Quote:
Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best announced the department is launching a “serious” criminal investigation into the use of improvised explosives and other devices against officers and property during Saturday’s protest that was declared a riot by police.

The protest on July 25 remained peaceful for most of the afternoon until about a dozen people set fire to portable trailers and other equipment at a construction site next to the King County Youth Service Center, police said.

From there, the group continued to damage businesses and destroy property, including the Seattle Police Department's East Precinct on Capitol Hill.

During a news conference Wednesday, Chief Best joined by Mayor Jenny Durkan, said several items were seized from a van that was following closely behind the destructive group and people were seen pulling things out of it.

From the van, detectives recovered items like baseball bats, improvised shields, pyrotechnic explosives, bear spray, pepper spray, stun guns and improvised spike strips designed to disable bicycle officers.

"I see no reason why someone would need to arm themselves with these at a peaceful protest," said Sgt. Detective James Lee, who accompanied Chief Best and Mayor Durkan at the press conference.

A total of 59 officers were injured during Saturday's riot on Capitol Hill.

Chief Best said no arrests have been made yet regarding this particular investigation but assured "we are going to follow up aggressively with the investigation."

Mayor Durkan condemned the acts of violence committed against officers and property in Seattle on Saturday.

Seattle residents slam ‘Defund the police’ as ‘radical experiment’ during city budget meeting
Quote:
Hundreds of Seattle residents spoke up about proposals to “Defund the police” during a city council budget meeting on Wednesday, according to reports.

The council is considering a plan that could slash the budget of the city’s police department by 50 percent – resulting in layoffs for hundreds of officers – all as Seattle deals with the coronavirus outbreak and frequent riots and other unrest since the May 25 death of George Floyd in police custody in Minneapolis.

While the “Defund the police” effort was initially popular in the city, opponents of the plan have been growing more vocal, Q13 FOX of Seattle reported.

“Defunding the police is a radical experiment that will hurt the vulnerable,” one member of the public, calling in to the phone-in meeting, told the council, according to Q13 FOX.

In addition, the Seattle Police Officers Guild, the union representing police, said it has collected more than 20,000 signatures on a “Stop Defunding” petition, the station reported.

But proponents of the “Defund the police” plan say it would be part of an effort to repair race relations in the city following years of excessive force against minorities and other claims of mistreatment.

“Nothing less than defunding will begin to heal the violence committed by police against Seattle’s Black, Brown and Indigenous communities,” said another of the estimated 300 people who signed up to address the council in a process that took about three hours, Q13 FOX reported.

Currently, a veto-proof majority on the city council supports the cuts to the police department – despite polls showing that public support is split, Q13 FOX reported.

Council members have been revising the current year’s budget to account for the coronavirus outbreak. On Friday they are scheduled to begin debating the plans for police-related cuts, with a vote on a revised city budget for the remainder of the year set to take place Aug. 10, the station reported.

Seattle BLM protesters demand white people ‘give up’ their homes

Quote:
A group of Black Lives Matter protesters in Seattle marched through a residential neighborhood this week demanding that white residents give up their homes, dramatic video shows.

Footage of the Wednesday demonstration posted to Twitter shows a crowd of dozens chanting “Black lives matter” before an unidentified man projects his ire toward nearby white residents — saying they are living in a historically black section of the city as another woman in the crowd yells that they should “give up” their homes, the clip shows.

“Do you know that before your white ass came here, this was all black people?” the man says. “Do you know people like you came in here and basically bought all the land from the black people for less than what it was worth, kicked them out so you could live here? Do you know that?”

The man continues: “’Cause if you don’t, now you f–king do — now do something about it!”

Another woman in the crowd then urges the residents to “open their wallet” as the man continues to yell at the unidentified residents off-camera.

“So how do you plan to fix it?” the man continues. “As a gentrifier, because you are part of that problem.”

A woman with a megaphone then urges the residents to “give up” their house, the footage shows.

“Give black people back their homes!” she yells. “You’re sitting there comfortably — comfortable as f—k as if they didn’t help gentrify this neighborhood! I used to live in this neighborhood, and my family was pushed out, and you’re sitting up there having a good time with your other white friends!”

A second clip purportedly shows BLM demonstrators and Antifa members calling for white people to “get the f–k out” as others in the crowd call for reparations.

“Give us our s–t back!” one man yells.

Yet another clip apparently shot in the aftermath of the protest also shows demonstrators threatening a business owner who allegedly called cops to report that a window had been shattered at his business.

“You’re being racist, you’re being racist,” a protester tells the unidentified white business owner. “Check your privilege, check your privilege.”

The protester then tells the man to “go back to his gentrification business” while yelling profanities at him, the clip shows.

“This was never your neighborhood,” the man’s rant continues. “This was never your neighborhood.”

The mask-clad white man then refuses to identify his business before being threatened as he walks away, the clip shows.

“Yeah, we’ll make sure to support you,” the protester continues. “Hey look, we don’t know what happened, we ain’t seen s**t, we don’t know s**t. You better hope we don’t find out though. That’s not a threat.”

“That’s a promise,” a second man then yells.

One of the protesters was then taken into custody for alleged vandalism as other Black Lives Matter demonstrators yell obscenities at cops, footage shows.

Seattle’s police chief, Carmen Best, stepped down this week as the city council approved cutting the department by as many as 100 cops through layoffs and attrition. The city currently has some 1,400 officers and the reduction fell short of the 50 percent cut that many Black Lives Matter protesters had sought.

The city’s mayor, Jenny Durkan, is also facing a legal battle to get her kicked out of office for her role in Seattle’s violent protests, which started in June when demonstrators took over its Capitol Hill district and later renamed it the Capitol Hill Occupation Protest.

At least 18 arrested in Seattle after a protest is declared a riot

Quote:
At least 18 people were arrested in Seattle Sunday night when a riot was declared during an anti-police demonstration in the SODO neighborhood, just south of downtown, according to the Seattle Police Department. Police did not say what charges the arrestees face.

Police said the march, which began in Seattle's International District around 7 p.m., started peacefully with about 100 protesters accompanied by vehicles following behind with the group, which was headed toward Seattle's police officer union building. Then "shortly after 10 p.m., someone in the crowd set off a large explosive and attempted to break out a police vehicle window," police said.

Protesters then began throwing rocks, bottles, and explosives at officers, police said. Video from CNN affiliate KIRO shows what appears to be fireworks exploding near officers as police attempted to disperse the crowd. Officers used pepper spray and blast balls to disperse the demonstrators, police said. KIRO reported that the protest ended around 11:30 p.m.

At least three officers were injured, some struck with explosives and rocks, police said. Seattle Fire Department responded to treat the injured officers; one officer required hospitalization.

I'm glad they have finally discovered that these are rioting thugs not peaceful protesters, for some the obvious takes time

There have been photos and videos since all this began, clearly showing threats and violence.EXTREME damage has been done, since the beginning.
How could anyone continue to insist that these were peaceful protests?
Most people don’t attend peaceful protests carrying soda bottles containing gasoline.

Majority of protests are peaceful, it's just that when there are trouble makers, they go in the media so it makes it look like none of these protests are peaceful. They ruin it.

When I say peaceful I mean no fires, no riots, no beating anyone up or attacking anyone but then someone comes and ruins it making it not peaceful anymore.

I want to believe that some or all of the protests were originally organized by well-meaning people who wanted police brutality investigated and exposed and stopped and dangerous officers removed, hopefully punished.
However, so many demonstrations have turned violent and destructive so quickly, it looks clearly that those individuals must have participated from the first days, hopefully with their own agenda.
Hopefully the known planners were not wanting destruction all along.
