I have two of the monster models from the 1960s. One is called “The forgotten prisoner” and the chained skeleton glows in the dark. They make reproductions now, but the ones I have are originals.

Models are fun, though the sort I do are a bit different than what has been mentioned here. I've been building and painting warhammer miniatures(there are various table top games for them). Also, though I have seen some rather cool DnD type miniatures, though seems most of those are already put to together so all that is left is painting them. I don't play DnD but idk maybe it would be fun to make some kind of a diorama or something with some. My boyfriend does way more miniature building and painting than me and has been for much longer, but it seemed cool so I couldn't help getting interested as well.

Also last time I heard from my dad, he was building a plane from a kit and I guess painting it purple and green or something like that.

Did in 1990s get and paint some Warhammer knights. Didn't get one but there were some resin kits for some 40K Eldar tanks which looked cool, streamlined and bubbly.

Yes, they made those model kits. Originals are hard to find unless you have a lot of money to spend. I picked up the prisoner model when I was in grad school. It was at a auction for an antique store that closed. I remember paying $50 for it as is without the box. Everyone there thought I was crazy to bid it to that level. Whoever built it did a fair job, but only painted the title sign a drab green. It sat at my office desk for years as a reminder of how grad school feels like.
