We have been erasing parts of our history (not unlike the Americans). One of the most popular publications in Australia was the Bulletin (I recall everybody's father in my school had a copy in their house and my dad was an avid subscriber) and it's masthead proudly declared the following until 1963/64
"The Bulletin" "The National Australian Newspaper"
Australia for the whiteman
Since the digital age its almost impossible now to find this masthead in a form that can be circulated. The fact the entire nation embraced this publication says volumes for what's just beneath the surface.
Yep, there was a "White Australian Policy".
No hiding from that.
However,
There have been 'millions' of immigrants after that policy was abandoned.
I think some people are ignorant of the fact that immigrants and children born of immigrants make a large proportion of the population, these days.
From memory, there are 1.2 million 'ethnic' Chinese in Australia, now, as an example.
So when people say 'Australians', they can't mean 'Whities'.
BTW, I am a first gen Australian.
Haven't seen spin that fine since I watched a DJ competition.
"Millions" sounds like a big number, but not really when dealing with tings which are large. For example, if we take the "end of whites only policy" to be when aborigines were first granted the right to actually be granted australian citizenship, that's like the 1970's. "Millions of people" over a period of 50 years is a trickle. And just cos they're 'immigrants' doesn't mean they're not still WHITE immigrants.
As for the chinese, there's a really simple workaround. Simply deny their validity, claim they're not "real" australians.
People absolutely can mean whites when they say australians, if they mean only the white australians. Y'know, the "real" australians, they'd say. You a mind-reader now, in addition to an oracle? Does SkyNews now have a mind-reading app, where you can know what people are thinking? To know so certainly what people mean when they say things? Besides, by that logic even if china did invade australia, it still wouldn't be an invasion, since they'd just be australians now. China would be like, "what? That's how y'all did it..."
And speaking of "foreigners", I bet both the australian first people AND the native americans have some interesting perspective on what it means to be an "immigrant"...

Quote:
Never shall an enemy set foot upon the soil of this country without having at once arrayed against it the whole of the manhood of this nation with such strength and quality that this nation will remain for ever the home of sons of Britishers who came here in peace in order to establish in the South Seas an outpost of the British race. Our law have proclaimed the standard of a White Australia.
At least Australia has hate speech laws... Baby steps I guess.
Now if we could just get Americans to get off their rears and stamp out nationalism over here.
America (West England) and Australia (South England) are just members of the same shady family all trying to pretend they're not like the other members.
Also, having laws is great, but enforcing them is where they actually have teeth. Tons of places have laws that aren't enforced, and in those cases, they may as well not exist. A law on books but not in practice is essentially political virtue signaling.

Australia is a vibrant, multicultural country. We are home to the world's oldest continuous cultures, as well as Australians who identify with more than 270 ancestries. Since 1945, almost seven million people have migrated to Australia. This rich, cultural diversity is one of our greatest strengths.

I'm just saying that a historic fear of non-white people doesn't just go away overnight. Look what happens to high profile folk like Adam Goodes, Anthony Mundine or Yasmin Abdel Majid who got cancelled by the white populace because they dared think for themselves. Abdel Majid got so much hate mail she fled Australia.
Lots of work to do to build bridges

Mundine is actually really popular among white Aussies but has been cancelled for saying stuff that skirts to close to race based issues. Abdel Majid is hardly "anti-white" but more a defender of female muslims who choose to wear the hijab, I don't find anything she says inflammatory and her treatment by the public along with that of Harry O'Brien (former Collingwood footballer) is an attempt to cancel their voices being orchestrated by the usual array of conservative commentators who dog-whistle against these people.
Adam Goodes of course was crucified for standing up for his aboriginal identity and told to "shut up and play football", People knew what they were doing when they booed him. One of the lowest episodes in Australian sport. I have always avoid AFL and NRL as they attract the worst types of Aussies.

They have an assortment of conservative commentators who stir the racist pot
worst are Andrew Bolt (who was charged under the racial vilification 18C), Rowan Dean who runs the Outsiders program regularly is hauled up for racism, Peta Credlin who regularly targets African migrants, I was interested to see even Sky sacked Ross Cameron a regular on the outsiders for racist comments. It seems to be their business model.
Another source of news for pepe is 3AW, a mainstream radio station who employ right wing shock jocks similar to the late Rush Limbaugh.

I haven't really watched Fox news, so I can't give an objective appraisal of whether or not it is particularly biased.
While I don't agree with some of the commentary I watch on Sky news, I find it a good source of information that the ABC deliberately doesn't present because it doesn't adhere to their political narrative.
The ABC would be a good source of information on other than political subject matter, however.
You have indicated on many occasions that you have a penchant for "Throwing the baby out with the bathwater."
I have noticed that the left of politics tends to do that consistently, presumably to fit into their binary way of seeing things.
When I see something I disagree with, I simply reject it.
When I see something I agree with, I learn from the experience.
To simply dismiss all things because some things are in variance to one's philosophy, is a rather pedestrian way of approaching life, imo.

Not according to Bolt. He and his crew in Sky were claiming Goodes deserved to get booed because they claim he targeted a 13 yr old girl. Both Sky and 3AW single handedly got their goon squad to turn up to the football and boo Goodes at every match till he hung up his jersey in disgust. Bolt didn't stop there, he went after Goodes after he got his "Australian of the year award" for services to the community.

Well, I am 'sitting on the fence' with this one.
I don't have the time to research.
I have done enough already.
But I will leave you with this:
Quote:
Furious fans hit back at Adam Goodes' controversial documentary that accuses them of racism - claiming they booed him for his actions on the field NOT for his race
Quote:
A Daily Mail Australia reader poll rejected The Final Quarter's premise that booing Goodes was racist, with more than 60 per cent of respondents saying it was not.

That's usually what happens. The biggest neo-Nazi group back in the early 1990s in Australia was the Australian National Movement or ANM who's primary platform was stirring up fear of Asian migration taking their cue from conservative politician and later prime minister John Howard who espoused anti-Asian values (sounds like Trump and Charlottesville) which became widespread at this time.
The ANM broke up in the late 1990s after their leaders murdered white people
Many of their ex-members are now organisers leaders of the current batch of neo-Nazis
