Wrong type of training. The dog should have received Behavioral training instead of Protection training. That is why they have the Secret Service Agents in the White House. If this keeps up they will need to provide hazard pay to civil servants that visit the White House.

So far - one Secret Service Agent and one National Park Service civil servant. I wonder what will happen if the dog bits a White House visitor, such as a young child.

Training a dog for protection teaches the dog to be friendly with those who are not a threat and to know when to be protective. It does not mean teaching a dog to attack.

But many dogs are trained to attack - period. That is why pit bulls have such a bad reputation.

President Biden has a duty to keep his German Shepherd, Major, away from people after the dog bit another employee at the White House on Monday said a personal injury lawyer Davis Cooper.

"My legal recommendation to them would be to keep that dog completely isolated or away from anyone because he’s a known danger," said Cooper, chairman of D.C.-based Cooper Law Partners. "I believe it’s their duty to protect people from their dog."

Cooper said that an overwhelming environment like the White House is not a "legal defense that would carry any weight" in court. Washington, D.C., law is strict on dog owners who know their dog has had at least one biting incident in the past.

"The one feature of Washington, D.C. dog bite law, and it’s relevant to the Major Biden story, it’s called the one-bite rule," Cooper said. "If the dog bites someone after it has already shown that it will bite someone, then there is presumed negligence on the owner of the dog."

They aren’t trained by a professional.
Police dogs don’t attack unless commanded to.

Biden's German Shepherd dog is a rescue dog. It may have been physically abused in the past and that is why it is a rescue dog. I suspect it was not trained by a professional. If you say that police dogs, many of which are German Shepherds don't attack unless commanded to, then who commanded Major to bite two civil service employees. My guess it was never professionally trained.

I never said he was a police dog.The point was that police dogs are trained by professionals to know when to attack and when to be chill.Protection training is NOT about teaching a dog to attack at random , but when it should or should not.It also includes behavior training and socializing .They have to work in areas that are crowded and noisy and must remain calm.
I don’t blame Biden for wanting a protection dog. They can hear and see better than any secret service agent.
He is still a young dog and they can be over zealous at times.Large breeds aren’t mature until two. With the right training he will be fine.
