Sounds like he's leading his country to fascism, which had incorporated aspects of the left into an otherwise right wing system of government.

Correction: He's not the head of this party. He's a pawn.
The head of the party is Jarosław Kaczyński who prefers to remain in less exposed positions.

Right now, the only country in Europe worth emulating is Sweden.

There are a lot more freedoms and tolerance there than in Poland or the U.S. A large percentage of the Bible and Quran is considered hate speech in Sweden.

Try getting states like Mississippi, Alabama and Arkansas on board with that. They won't. They'll cry "Waaaa, Christians are being persecuted!! !"

Any religious group that opposes abortion and LGBT rights should be designated as a terrorist organization.

Imitating their approach to COVID would have been a bad idea, even the Swedes admit that now.

Regarding the origional topic, I can't blame them because one elects a leader and then the leader does all he or she can for the country (They may not be perfect but who is?) and all they get is criticism from those who would not even lift a finger to get themselves elected. All talk but no trousers. (I don't know what trousers has to do with the saying but it is what would be said in this circumstance).

I will add that while I can't blame them, I do not think such a restriction in itself is right because it makes one into a dictator even if one has been democratically elected!

In France it's called the Délit d'Outrage and it provides a lese majeste rule benefiting not only the President, but also all the police officers.
