How so? Gosar did a disgusting and contemptible thing with that idiotic Attack On Titan video.
So, were you so willing to disregard Cathy Griffin's pic with Trump's severed head years ago. My memory might be faulty, but I thought you flipped out about it.

I think AOC has given a mature, level headed response to this Nazi loving nutbar:

The only reason I would have even brought it up would have been to point to liberal hypocrisy on the issue, I don't particularly care about Trump or Cathy Griffin, but I do care about double standards. What year was that even from, I was off WP from mid 2017 to just this August.

Which you then flipped to "why aren't his party or constituents calling him out?", which is the same as me finding the craziest Democrat I can and trashing you for not denouncing them, it's grade school stuff. I'll give you that the GOP has the more colorful elected crazies at the moment, but I'll bet it wouldn't take me too much digging to find some new age crystal clutching elected Democrat somewhere, consulting her cats and/or her horoscope to make policy, and use her to tar the entire party with, except that I don't do that for the reasons I already mentioned.
Also, dude, it's trolling, you're just doing what he wants by freaking out over it.

I suspect it's more than trolling. Gosar's been a guest speaker at Oath Keeper meetings, and he was a major supporter of Trump's January 6 attack on the capitol. Nothing so innocently trollish about this man.
If slow to denouncing liberals who have crossed the line, I eventually do the right thing. I've already explained why his constituents and colleges haven't called him out - - very likely because he's chummy with their orange messiah, who they fear too much to offend. And also because more than a few of them probably would like to do the same thing.
And in all honesty, I'd feel much more comfortable with crystal wielding New Age nutters than with someone like Gosar who courts violent white nationalists.

The problem is when the trolling is so common it becomes normalised. People have developed such low expectations from the behaviour of republican politicians since 2016 that their threshold for shock has diminished. Then they can cherry pick all the other stuff they stand for e.g. small government, low taxes, guns, walls, immigration etc...

What is the connection between his fringe politics and how seriously to take his trolling?

In my experience, grudgingly, after you're called out on it, so you get 3/4 credit from me there. You see why it's annoying though, right? "Hey guys, look at this nutjob, this granola bar proves all liberals at nuts, just look at him!"

Or, they just don't pay much attention to him, as most House members are fairly unimportant and forgettable. I don't even know most of my state Representatives aside from the one I despise, and I only know her because she's both high profile, and I used to live in her district. Forget anyone from any other state, no use even paying attention, unless you're nut-picking.

Different strokes.

Eh, I can't deny that it works, and the GOP base seems to enjoy politicians who make the libs pull out their hair, so I can't be too judgmental.

The FBI has stated the number one terrorist threat in America comes from the right. As Gosar has given them support, and maybe even an attempt at respectability, he potentially represents something more than just a troll. And that sort of organized, fanatical hate certainly represents more than just "different strokes" for different folks.
Flatter yourself if you will, but very rarely do I recall ever conceding ground to you. I'm talking about how I had learned to overcome homophobic and transphobic sentiments I had grown up with, as well as recognizing that the display of any American President's severed, bloody head is an affront to anyone with a sense of decency.

And you believe them? If they'd said it was the left, would you believe that? Use your imagination, don't just say "duh, but the left isn't as violent, derp", imagine your reaction if the FBI said something you thought was a lie.

And? He's still just a minor politician posting an anime meme, what makes this particularly stupid meme so outrage worthy? I wouldn't even have recognized AOC as the monster if I hadn't read the story first.

You think of that as a boast, but anyone who pays attention knows that all of our debates end the same way, me losing patience with you and either departing, or bludgeoning you with arguments until you grudgingly concede some small point, only to act as if it never happened later. It's like Groundhog's Day, I keep thinking it will be different this time, I'll do better and finally get some logic to penetrate, but so far I've always been disappointed.

You know what my objection to the whole bloody Trump head thing is? It's tacky and crude, and it says something that most of her peers would agree with (Trump = Bad), so it's boring.

You guys on the right have a paranoid fixation on the FBI even before Trump, though he certainly exaggerated it. Of course the white nationalist right are a real danger to America, as they've been committing more violent crimes than leftist or Islamic radicals! I have no reason not to believe them. The only reason not to is if one were to believe said white nationalists were correct in their ideology.
Her peers? You mean liberals? No, most liberals were in agreement with you.
Self flattery is hubris, just to let you know.

This is the kind of thing that makes me question both your intellect and your morals, as you're implying that anyone who thinks the FBI might be shading the truth must be a white supremacist, which is both stupid and slimy. So which is it, are you stupid, slimy, or both?

Remind me again, who keeps bringing up never giving an inch in an argument as if that's something to be proud of? When I argue with you, I worry about 2 things: getting frustrated at wasting my time, and looking like I'm picking on someone weaker than me on purpose, like I'm clubbing a baby seal or something, never that you're going to get the better of me. The truth is you're a lousy debater, you're hopelessly partisan, prone to making unsupported assertions and refusing to back off of them, you cite laughably biased sources when you bother to cite any at all, you can't follow many points, even your own on occasion, and you employ the full suite of logical and informal fallacies to avoid ever having to admit that you or your party are ever wrong, I only bother with you because you post a lot and give me plenty of easy spots to tee off of to make my points. I'm more afraid of looking like a bully picking on you than I am of any argument you've ever put forward; that's not hubris, that's an honest assessment based on years of experience, and any clear eyed third party would tell you the same thing privately.
