I bought my fair share of doorbuster deals online today. Half of my Christmas shopping is now done. The rest will have to be bought in stores. I scored a very rare signed comic book for a quarter of what it is actually worth. That one is going to a good friend who collects that character.

I do miss the old days of Black Friday shopping before you could get most of it online. It was actually fun to wait outside of a store with others to get the deals. In grad school, fellow students would group together to go to Best Buy at midnight and wait until it opened up at 5 am. I did this a few times. My 32” Westinghouse LCD TV that I bought Black Friday 2007 is still working fine. I can not say that of another brand LCD smart TV that I bought a few years ago. Quality control has gone downhill as the price dropped over time. My favorite Black Friday website shut down last year due to inactivity. Sad to see it happen, but we are progressing towards a new era. COVID-19 just sped up the process.

Eh, I hold off on certain big purchases to see if I can stretch my money a little further on these periodic retail holidays, doesn't seem like that big a deal either way. Also, the Steam sales are usually pretty good, I keep my entertainment budget down taking advantage of game sales.
