Covid isn't the only virus that Ivermectin might possibly be effective against, chikungunya and yellow fever are others it's been studied for use on.
Lab studies performed in vitrio are not the same as clinical trials performed in vivo.

"Might Possibly" does NOT equal "Definitely Proven".

I feel like this would be the ideal time for many multi-phased, peer review studies pertaining to Ivermectin's efficacy when it comes to COVID.

That there hasn't been proven efficacy, despite all the focus on it, renders me skeptical as to its usefulness, as opposed to the usefulness of vaccines.

It's interesting to watch a person get so worked up about a medication which has been proven safe for human use and which, even if it had no direct effect in treating a disease\virus, could still provide patients a degree of "comfort" through knowing they were receiving it (if they already believed it may help them) - or through the "Placebo Effect" - and relying on material from sources with a vested interest (drug companies) in their efforts to prevent the use of the medication and shut down discussion about it.

If a medication is known to be safe, is it better to:
withhold it from a patient, merely because it hasn't been proven to have a definite effect (despite the patient believing in it) and thereby adding to their stress regarding their condition due to this denial,
OR:
To provide it to them, thereby helping relieve their stress regarding their condition, whether or not it has an effect on their condition?

By allowing the medication, a doctor would not be doing harm to the patient, but rather showing a degree of compassion towards them, something overlooked by those on a crusade against the medication.

Another astute observation.  I whole-heartedly agree.

It seems obvious from where the anti-vaxx/pro-ivermectin people are getting their information.  All of the following statements from bloggers, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter are FALSE.  I do not trust YouTube, either . . .

Bloggers: "At Lions Gate Hospital in Vancouver, 13 babies were reportedly stillborn at the hospital in a period of 24 hours. All of their mothers had received a COVID-19 injection."

Bloggers: "Pfizer launches final study for COVID drug that's suspiciously similar to 'horse paste' ivermectin."

Facebook: "COVID cases in India plummet after government promotes ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine use."

Facebook: "Emails show Fauci's fellow scientist could tell early on that the (coronavirus) looked manufactured."

Facebook: "It is the vaccinated, NOT the unvaccinated, spreading mutant variants."

Facebook: "Ivermectin caused a substantial decrease in the excess mortality rate in Mexico."

Facebook: "Large, peer-reviewed research study proves ivermectin works as a COVID-19 preventative."

Facebook: "No new COVID-19 cases in Uttar Pradesh, India, due to use of ivermectin."

Instagram: "Mountains of data show drug ivermectin basically obliterates COVID-19 transmission."

Instagram: "NIH COVID Treatment Guidelines Approve Ivermectin."

Twitter: "Research from Japan shows ivermectin is effective against omicron in Phase III trial."

Twitter: "Tap water is testing positive for COVID!"

I feel it’s problematic to make use of Ivermectin as a substitute for vaccines.

It would be interesting to see the results if Ivermectin is used in conjunction with vaccines, which I find to be more “gamma globulin-like” than anything else. Effective at lessening symptoms and preventing more infiltration into the respiratory and other bodily systems.

Again, Ivermectin hasn’t been proven, whatsoever, to be effective against COVID.

The World Health Organization (WHO) Strongly Recommends 2 New Drugs to Treat Severe COVID-19.  One of the drug types is commonly used to treat rheumatoid arthritis.

Key Facts:

• WHO issued a strong recommendation for the use of baricitinib as an alternative to interleukin-6 (IL-6) receptor blockers, or monoclonal antibodies, in combination with corticosteroids, in patients with severe or critical COVID-19

• The agency issued a conditional recommendation against the use of monoclonal antibodies ruxolitinib and tofacitinib for patients with severe or critical COVID-19.

• A conditional recommendation was also issued for the use of sotrovimab, a type of monoclonal antibody, in patients with non-severe COVID-19 but who pose a high risk of hospitalization.

The findings are a result of seven trials that included more than 4,000 patients with mild, severe, and critical COVID-19 infection.  Severe cases are considered patients with confirmed COVID-19 infection who are also experiencing an oxygen level of less than 90% when breathing without assistance, as well as exhibiting signs of pneumonia and severe respiratory distress.  Critical patients require life-sustaining treatment for conditions like acute respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis, and septic shock.

Claims that Ivermectin is effective against COVID-19 are mixtures of assumptions and half-truths combined with misleading anecdotes and overzealous lies.

What I find more troublesome are the media lies surrounding Ivermectin. It's been completely misrepresented as a horse dewormer." While that is true, the omission that it is indeed a human medicine and has been prescribed safely to people with Covid.

Whether it's effective for treating Covid or not, I'd rather not have media that lies constantly. It's amazing CNN has any viewers left at all.

Ivermectin is an antiparasitic drug that is used to treat several neglected tropical diseases, including onchocerciasis, helminthiases, and scabies.  It is also being evaluated for its potential to reduce the rate of malaria transmission by killing mosquitoes that feed on treated humans and livestock.  For these indications, ivermectin has been widely used and is generally well tolerated.  Ivermectin is not approved by the FDA for the treatment of any viral infection.

Misinformation has been widely spread claiming that ivermectin is beneficial for treating and preventing COVID-19.  Such claims are not backed by credible scientific evidence.

Still missing the point. No surprise there.

I am not missing your 'point'; I am ignoring it.

Claims for the efficacy of ivermectin against the coronavirus have been largely exaggerated or fabricated.

Of course! You can't address it, so you ignore it.

I have addressed it, multiple times.  I simply do not wish to be drawn into another pointless argument.

Now, please get back on-topic and stop trying to derail this thread.

I really would be delighted if it turns out Ivermectin, or some other drug, is proven to be eminently effective against COVID.

Viral infections, in general, are much more difficult to treat than bacterial infections. Has anybody ever found a "cure" for the Common Cold?
