I think being a "commie" is still a slur thrown around like "woke" or "leftist" or "cancel culture" etc....it serves a purpose

I'm no fan of Q-anon, but the above is quite flimsy. If it's at all real in any way, there's nothing stopping the US department of justice from investing those websites. As well as internet watchdog organizations. At the very least it would seem that Jim Watkins has some splainin to do.

It certainly justifies looking into it further, although if it's cartoons and 'glamour modelling' that might change if it's criminal and lead to no charges but it doesn't change that it's for pedophiles.

I no longer believe the crap about the "satanic pedo ring".

Their use of the word "pedophile" is for the same reason Joe McCarthy used the word "communist"-- to discredit opposition.

As with being labeled a "communist" in the 50s, simply being accused of being a "pedophile" will result in permanent social pariahdom, even if you're completely innocent.

Personally I've always recognized that as one of the main goals with smearing their opponents as pedophiles.

Although projection has always stood out as an obvious motive beyond the effect it has as a smear.

There's also their fixation with insisting anyone who isn't straight as being a pedophile and hoping to get it stuck in people's minds that supporting queer people is the same as supporting people who wish to rape children.

Just a reminder: under international law, an occupying power has no right of self-defense, and those who are occupied have the right and duty to liberate themselves by any means possible.

Ever wonder why school adminstrators and parent groups don't want LGBTQI students or staff. It's still law here.

It seems to me that accusing each other of operating a pedophile network is going both ways from both sides. Is what Mother Jones doing any different than "pizzagate"?

I'm taking a wild guess that we haven't seen the end of storming the Capitol building and might see history repeat itself in 2024 especially since the biggest supporter of their crackpot theories might have his small hands back on the nuclear triggers.

What moron mental genius claims 1 in 5 is fact?

I think it's an estimate. There's no way to really know what the real number is but judging from the 2020 election we can at least gather it doesn't bother half the voting population of the US.

Put it this way. When people voted for Trump, they knew he subscribed and re tweeted QAnon conspiracies.

The one is reporting that can be substantiated, the other was unsubstantiated claims that defied objective reality (claims of a sex ring being ran out of the basement of a building that lacked a basement).

It seems like a sad attempt at pretending unequal things are in fact equal.

Get real tiger, they're both unsubstantiated.

Go on, I'm sure you have a case to make... :chin:

What purpose is that, exactly? To indicate that someone has no legit arguments, and must resort to emotionally charged language? To make the point that the individual using those terms does not belong in any serious debate? If so, mission accomplished. I'm not saying the Right has no legit arguments to make. I just wish they would make them more often, and act like adults rather than resorting to childish name-calling, and refusing to learn what a "commie" actually is.

There's nothing of substance to build a case on.

Precisely. It devalues the person making their arguments (however articulate or evidence based) and by proxy invalidates their arguments before anyone has a chance to critically evaluate them. You will notice Trump did this successfully in shutting down probing questions from journalists. But right wing trolls have been doing this for years before Trump ever contemplated entering politics.

And what do the left wing trolls do?

I agree, there are left-wing trolls who use labels to throw off the need to evaluate arguments from social conservatives. The sticky problem though, is that I very rarely see social conservatives make valid arguments when it comes to issues of social inequality. Also if the person you are debating is relying on slogans or labels to make their point (e,g, soccor moms trying to argue against CRT) then trying to conduct a rationale debate has no purpose.
